Feeler FT-250(MC) — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Feeler FT-250(MC) that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Feeler or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

A metre between chuck and centre defines the Feeler FT-250(MC). Maximum turning length is 1,037 mm (40.8 in) on a 10 in (254 mm) chuck box way lathe, with a turning diameter of 420 mm (16.5 in). That is roughly twice the length of the FT-200(MC) below it.

Long beds are for shafts: motor shafts, spindles, rolls, hydraulic rods, axle parts. On such work the tailstock is in use most of the time, and here it has an MT-4 taper. Z travel is 1,120 mm (44.1 in), a little more than the turning length, and X travel is printed as 210+20 mm.

The spindle has an A2-8 nose and an 88 mm bore, for a bar capacity of 77 mm (3.0 in), and turns up to 3,500 rpm. Feeler builds the FT series on a 45-degree slant bed and says the structure improves chip evacuation and reduces heat effects during long-duration heavy cutting.

For the FT-250 the maker describes a BMT65 driven turret and C-axis, allowing turning, milling, drilling and tapping in a single setup, and a servo-driven turret with a large-diameter curved-tooth coupling for fast, rigid indexing. The table lists the turret as BMT65-12. The same text mentions a twin spindle design and an orthogonal Y-axis on full box ways; in the table those belong to the separate FT-250SY column, not to this one, which shows no Y travel and does show a tailstock. Rapid rates and motor power are not published.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 1,037 mm (40.8 in) turning length on a 10 in chuck lathe
  • 77 mm (3.0 in) bar capacity through an 88 mm bore
  • BMT65 driven turret and C-axis described by Feeler for the FT-250
  • 45-degree slant bed, box way series
  • Servo-driven turret with large-diameter curved-tooth coupling

Limitations

  • No Y axis or second spindle in this column; those are on the FT-250SY
  • Spindle speed of 3,500 rpm
  • MT-4 tailstock is small for heavy shafts a metre long
  • No rapid rates, power or torque are published

Best For

Shafts and rolls up to about a metre long Hydraulic rods and motor shafts with milled keyways on the MC version Bar work up to 77 mm through the A2-8 spindle Heavy turning that benefits from box ways

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How long a part can the Feeler FT-250(MC) turn?

Maximum turning length is 1,037 mm (40.8 in), with 1,120 mm (44.1 in) of Z travel. Maximum turning diameter is 420 mm (16.5 in) and the tailstock spindle has an MT-4 taper.

02 Does it have live tooling?

Feeler describes the FT-250 as equipped with a BMT65 driven turret and C-axis, allowing turning, milling, drilling and tapping in a single setup. The column is headed FT-250(MC), so the plain FT-250 and the driven-tool MC version share one set of figures.

03 What is the difference from the FT-250SY?

The FT-250SY lists a Y axis travel of 100 (±50) mm and no tailstock, and its Z/E travel is given as 1,050/947 mm, which indicates a second spindle on an E axis. The FT-250(MC) has a tailstock and no Y axis.

04 What spindle is fitted?

An A2-8 spindle nose with an 88 mm (3.5 in) through-hole, 3,500 rpm maximum, carrying a 10 in (254 mm) chuck. Power is not given on the series page.
