Overview
The Glebar PG-912DG is an enclosed centerless form grinder with a work wheel 12.625 in (321 mm) wide, wider than the 10.125 in (257 mm) wheel of the PG-9DHD. It plunge grinds spheres and cylindrical forms from 0.002 in (0.05 mm) up to 4 in (102 mm) in diameter, and the extra wheel width is there to fit more parts into each plunge. Glebar reports throughput gains of as much as 30% in its own testing.
Servo motors set the oscillating regulating wheel to a pre-programmed position, and that adjustment is the slow step on a form grinder at changeover. From the same testing Glebar reports a Cpk two times greater than the process being replaced, which it credits to precise positioning. The controller is described as multi-axis, the operating mode is plunge, and infeed rate is adjustable from 0.01 to 0.4 in/sec.
The work wheel is 9 in (229 mm) in diameter on a 15 hp (11 kW) spindle, and wheel surface speed is listed as 5,780 surface feet. The platform is granite, which Glebar cites for rigidity and for thermal and vibration stability. Golf ball cores are the example part shown for this model.
The enclosure is interlocked so that it cannot be opened while the grinder runs, and it makes the machine tall: 76.5 x 48.25 x 94 in (194 x 123 x 239 cm), at 3,700 lb (1,678 kg). Automated feeding systems can be mounted at the top or at the side, depending on the application. Supply is 480 VAC, 3PH, 60 Hz at 40 A, and air is 3 CFM at 80-90 PSI.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 12.625 in (321 mm) wide work wheel grinds more parts per cycle; Glebar reports throughput up by as much as 30% in testing
- Servo motors move the oscillating regulating wheel to a pre-programmed position, shortening setup
- Enclosed as standard, with interlocks that prevent opening while the grinder is running
- Granite platform and a 15 hp (11 kW) work wheel spindle
- Handles part diameters from 0.002 in (0.05 mm) to 4 in (102 mm)
- Touchscreen HMI with remote connectivity and data collection
Limitations
- At 76.5 x 48.25 x 94 in (194 x 123 x 239 cm) it needs far more room than the PG-9DHD at 47 x 39 x 50 in (119 x 99 x 127 cm)
- Weighs 3,700 lb (1,678 kg), against 2,000 lb (908 kg) for the PG-9DHD
- Glebar's table for this model gives no roundness or slide resolution figure, so tolerance capability has to be confirmed on sample parts
- Spindle power is listed only as 15 hp (11 kW); the PG-9DHD offers 7.5 hp (5.6 kW) and 10 hp (7.5 kW) motors as well

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The work wheel is 9 in (229 mm) in diameter and 12.625 in (321 mm) wide. Glebar describes it as a 12 in wide work wheel that lets manufacturers grind more parts per cycle, and says throughput increased by as much as 30% in testing.
02
Maximum grinding diameter is 4 in (102 mm) and minimum is 0.002 in (0.05 mm). The machine works in plunge mode, with an infeed rate of 0.01 to 0.4 in/sec, so the form is ground into the part in one infeed motion.
03
It has a wider wheel, 12.625 in (321 mm) against 10.125 in (257 mm) on the PG-9DHD, a granite platform and a full interlocked enclosure as standard, and servo positioning of the oscillating regulating wheel. It is also larger and heavier: 3,700 lb (1,678 kg) against the PG-9DHD's 2,000 lb (908 kg).
04
A 480 VAC, 3PH, 60 Hz supply at 40 A and 3 CFM of air at 80-90 PSI. The machine measures 76.5 x 48.25 x 94 in (194 x 123 x 239 cm) and weighs 3,700 lb (1,678 kg), so check door heights and rigging routes as well as floor space.
