Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Fryer TC-80V that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
With 80 in (2,032 mm) of X travel over a fixed 80 x 24 in (2,032 x 610 mm) table, the Fryer TC-80V is the size at which the traveling column idea starts to pay in production. Fryer describes using table dividers to create work zones, so that the machine behaves like a multi-pallet design. Split in two, this table gives a pair of zones as long as the whole table of the TC-40V.
Pendulum machining works like this. The spindle cuts in one zone while the operator unloads and reloads the other behind a divider, then the column travels across and the roles swap. Spindle utilisation rises without a pallet changer, and the 1,000 ipm (25.4 m/min) rapid makes the crossing brief. The fixed table carries 8,000 lb (3,629 kg).
From this model upward the extended travels can be ordered. Standard Y and Z are 24 in (610 mm) each; the options sheet lists extended 32 in (813 mm) Y and Z travels for the TC-80V to TC-320V, which take the spindle centre 32 in from the column and the spindle nose up to 36 in (914 mm) above the table.
The X axis is ballscrew driven, with positioning accuracy of +/- 0.0002 in (0.0051 mm). Weight is 32,000 lb (14,515 kg), a large step from the TC-40V, and the operating width is 200 in (5,080 mm). Spindle: CAT 40, 60 - 8,500 rpm, 30 hp (22.4 kW) peak, with 24 tools in an arm type changer.

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Yes. Fryer lists a dual zone with table divider for the TC-V series and describes using table dividers to create work zones in a multi-pallet style. On the TC-80V the 80 x 24 in (2,032 x 610 mm) fixed table is divided, and the column travels between the zones at 1,000 ipm (25.4 m/min).
02
24 in (610 mm) each as standard. Extended 32 in (813 mm) Y and Z travels are listed on the options sheet for the TC-80V to TC-320V. With them, spindle nose to table becomes 36 - 4 in (914 - 102 mm) in place of 28 - 4 in (711 - 102 mm).
03
The TC-40V has 40 in (1,016 mm) of X and weighs 20,000 lb (9,072 kg). The TC-80V has 80 in (2,032 mm) of X, weighs 32,000 lb (14,515 kg) and is 200 in (5,080 mm) wide in operation. Both tables are rated 8,000 lb (3,629 kg) and both use a ballscrew on X.
04
The base spindle is CAT 40 at 60 - 8,500 rpm with 30 hp (22.4 kW) peak. Options include a 15,000 rpm in-line spindle, a 50 taper spindle with a maximum of 6,000 rpm, a 40 hp motor giving 204 ft-lb (277 Nm), and a 350 psi coolant through spindle system.
