Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Fryer HR-160 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Fryer HR-160 is the largest fixed spindle horizontal in the HR series, with 160 in (4,064 mm) of X travel and a 40 x 165 in (1,016 x 4,191 mm) table. At 46,000 lb (20,866 kg) it is also the heaviest. Y travel is 55 in (1,397 mm) and Z is 40 in (1,016 mm), extendable to 50 in (1,270 mm).
Nothing in the cutting specification changes from the HR-120, and that is the point to check. The table is longer, yet it is still rated for 10,000 lb (4,536 kg). The spindle is still 40 hp (29.8 kW) peak with 306 ft-lb (415 Nm) at 350 rpm, and the axes still rapid at 600 ipm (15.2 m/min) with 7,500 lb of thrust. The gain over the HR-120 is reach alone, so the question is whether the parts really need more than 120 in (3,048 mm) in one setup.
When they do, the machine earns its floor space. Rail car components, press frames, turbine casings and long fabricated beams can be faced, drilled and bored along their full length from the side, with the spindle center anywhere from 10 to 65 in (254 - 1,651 mm) above the table. The 40" built-in rotary table option adds indexing for parts up to 10,000 lbs.
Operating dimensions are 300 x 150 x 145 in (7,620 x 3,810 x 3,683 mm), and Fryer lists a full machine guard for the HR/HB-160 as an option. The machine ships at 180 x 105 x 105 in (4,572 x 2,667 x 2,667 mm) after some disassembly, so rigging and reassembly on site belong in the installation plan.
