Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Fryer TC-80H that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Fryer TC-80H offers 80 in (2,032 mm) of X travel with a horizontal spindle and a fixed table. Among Fryer's horizontals it is the alternative to the moving-table HR-70: similar length, a very different idea of how the part and the machine meet.
On the HR-70 the table carries the part past a fixed spindle and offers 55 in (1,397 mm) of Y. On the TC-80H the part stays still on an 80 x 24 in (2,032 x 610 mm) table and the column travels. Y is 24 in (610 mm) and the spindle is 40 taper with 30 hp (22.4 kW) peak, where the HR-70 has 50 taper and 40 hp (29.8 kW). The TC-80H is therefore the lighter-cutting, faster-loading machine, with 1,000 ipm (25.4 m/min) rapids against the 750 ipm (19.1 m/min) of the HR-70.
This is the first TC-H length for which the extended 32 in (813 mm) Z travel is listed. Z on a horizontal is the reach toward the part, so the extension matters when fixtures of different depths share the table, or when the built-in rotary table option is fitted and parts of varying size are indexed in front of the spindle.
Table load is 8,000 lb (3,629 kg) and the machine weighs 32,000 lb (14,515 kg). A ballscrew drives X, with positioning accuracy of +/- 0.0002 in (0.0051 mm). The 24 station changer handles tools up to 13 in (330 mm) long, and Fryer lists 24 or 40 tool changers for the series.

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The HR-70 is a moving-table, fixed spindle machine with 70 x 55 x 36 in (1,778 x 1,397 x 914 mm) of travel, a 50 taper spindle and 306 ft-lb (415 Nm). The TC-80H is a fixed-table traveling column with 80 in (2,032 mm) of X, 24 in (610 mm) of Y and Z, a 40 taper spindle and 155 ft-lb (210 Nm). Tall, heavy-cut parts favour the HR-70; long, low parts favour the TC-80H.
02
24 in (610 mm) as standard and 32 in (813 mm) with the extended Z travel option, which Fryer lists for the TC-80H to TC-320H. An extended 36" Y travel is also on the options sheet.
03
32,000 lb (14,515 kg), with operating dimensions of 200 x 138 x 118 in (5,080 x 3,505 x 2,997 mm). The fixed table is 80 x 24 in (2,032 x 610 mm) with 5 T-slots.
04
The standard spindle runs 60 - 8,500 rpm. Fryer's table lists 10K, 12K and 15K spindles as options, and the options sheet lists 50 taper spindles at 8,000 rpm and, as an in-line type, 10,000 rpm.
