Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Fryer HB-120 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Fryer's HB-120 puts a moving-quill boring spindle on a 120 in (3,048 mm) bed. The work table is 40 x 126 in (1,016 x 3,200 mm) with 7 T-slots and a 10,000 lb (4,536 kg) rating; Y travel is 50 in (1,270 mm), Z is 40 in (1,016 mm), and the 4.330 in (110 mm) bar adds 20 in (508 mm) of W.
A long boring mill is bought for parts with accurate bores far apart. Think of a machine bed with bearing seats at both ends, a press crown, or a large pump casing. The bores can be finished in one clamping, with the table carrying the part along X and the bar reaching in at each station. Positioning accuracy is +/- 0.0003 in (0.0076 mm) and repeatability +/- 0.0002 in (0.0051 mm). When a 40" built-in rotary table is ordered, its positioning accuracy is 12 arc seconds, which governs how well bores machined from opposite sides line up.
The structure grows with the bed. Ballscrews are 3.14 in (80 mm), against 1.96 in (50 mm) on the HB-70, and the weight rises to 44,000 lb (19,958 kg). Rapids fall to 500 ipm (12.7 m/min). Spindle center to table top runs from 15 to 65 in (381 - 1,651 mm).
The spindle rows do not change: 40 hp (29.8 kW) peak, 30 - 3,000 rpm, 360 ft-lb (488 Nm) at 350 rpm, CAT 50 or BT-50. The footprint does. Operating dimensions are 325 x 160 in (8,255 x 4,064 mm), considerably more than the HR-120 fixed spindle machine on the same table size, and the height is 155 in (3,937 mm).
