How much does the Fryer ET-25 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Fryer ET-25 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Largest of the ET-TR toolroom lathes, the Fryer ET-25 swings 25 in (635 mm) over the bed and 16 in (406 mm) over the cross slide. That second figure is the one that separates it from the ET-21, which clears 12 in (305 mm) over the cross slide: a 16 in diameter can travel the full length of the bed here.
Most other rows are shared with the ET-21. Both have a 15 hp (11.2 kW) peak motor, a 3.40 in (86 mm) bore on a Camlock D1-8 nose, a 60 in (1,524 mm) standard center distance and the same 106 x 78 in (2,692 x 1,981 mm) operating footprint. The ET-25 has a higher center, 12.6 in (320 mm), a little more cross slide travel at 12.5 in (318 mm), and 8,500 lb (3,856 kg) of weight against the ET-21's 7,500 lb (3,402 kg).
A buyer should weigh the swing against the drive. The spindle runs 50 - 2,000 rpm in two auto-shift ranges, and the low range of 50 - 300 rpm is where a 25 in workpiece will spend its time. Part weight is limited to 800 lb (363 kg) unsupported and 3,000 lb (1,361 kg) supported, so a large-diameter part is more likely to reach the weight limit than the swing limit.
Options follow the ET-21 list: 40 in (1,016 mm), 80 in (2,032 mm) and 120 in (3,048 mm) center distances, Big Bore Option #2 with a 4.01” bore on an A2-11 nose, an 8 station live tool turret with VDI-30 tooling, and a 'C' axis spindle. Fryer lists its own steady rest for the ET-25, a roller type with .5” - 7.5” capacity.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 25 in (635 mm) swing over the bed and 16 in (406 mm) over the cross slide
- 12.5 in (318 mm) of cross slide travel, the most in the ET-TR series
- Center distances from 40 in (1,016 mm) to 120 in (3,048 mm) by option
- 3.40 in (86 mm) spindle bore, or 4.01” with Big Bore Option #2
- 8,500 lb (3,856 kg) machine on Meehanite castings
Limitations
- Unsupported part weight of 800 lb (363 kg) is low for a 25 in (635 mm) swing
- Motor is 15 hp (11.2 kW) peak, the same as the smaller ET-21
- Maximum speed is 2,000 rpm, and 1,500 rpm with the big bore option
- Tailstock quill is 2.5 in (64 mm) in diameter with 5.5 in (140 mm) of travel, unchanged from the ET-21

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Swing. The ET-25 swings 25 in (635 mm) over the bed and 16 in (406 mm) over the cross slide; the ET-21 swings 21 in (533 mm) and 12 in (305 mm). The ET-25 also has 12.5 in (318 mm) of X travel and weighs 8,500 lb (3,856 kg). Motor, bore, speeds and bed options are the same rows.
02
Fryer's table gives 800 lb (363 kg) for an unsupported part and 3,000 lb (1,361 kg) for a supported one. A roller type steady rest with .5” - 7.5” capacity is listed for the ET-25 on the options sheet.
03
35 A at 208-250 VAC, 3 phase, with 380-500 VAC as an option. Big Bore Option #2 requires 380-500 VAC or the special transformer Fryer lists for shops that only have 208-250 VAC power. Air is 5 cfm (142 L/min) at 90 psi (6.2 bar).
04
The options sheet lists a 10” hydraulic 3 jaw chuck with 2.56" bar capacity for the ET-21 and ET-25, along with manual chucks. The spindle nose is Camlock D1-8, or A2-11 with the big bore option, and the bore is 3.40 in (86 mm).
