Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Flex Machine Tools G-20-06 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Flex Machine Tools G-20-06 is a large-envelope vertical machining center: 240″ of X, 72″ of Y and 19.5″ of Z under a 40 HP, 6,000 RPM spindle with a CT50 or CT40 taper. It is the G-10-06 with X doubled from 120″; Y, Z, spindle and the 20-tool CT50 changer are unchanged.
An envelope this size is used in two ways. One is a single large workpiece: a long weldment, a machine base, a structural plate that needs holes and faces machined in one setup. The other is several smaller plates laid out along X, each on its own fixtures on the three integrated T-slot rails, so that setups stay in place between runs. The X rapid of up to 1200 IPM, with 1000 IPM in Y, keeps the moves between them short. Z is slower at up to 170 IPM.
If the catalogued travels are not the right fit, Flex lists X strokes from 10′ up to 50′ and Y strokes from 4′ up to 10′ as available. Two siblings share the 240″ of X. The C-20-02 is the narrow one, with 24″ of Y, 17.5″ of Z and an 18 HP CT40 spindle. The GM-20-06 has the same X and Y as this machine, 19.2″ of Z and a CT50 taper with no CT40 alternative listed.
Height under the spindle runs from 4.25″ to 23.75″ above the table. Positioning accuracy is listed as ±0.003 in for X and ±0.002 in for Y and Z, repeatability as ±0.0007 in for X and ±0.0005 in for Y and Z. On a part that uses most of the 240″, the X positioning figure is the one to hold against the drawing.
Coolant capacity is 90 gallons with a chip auger. The Omron FlexCNC controller is operated from a mobile control panel with a 22″ touch screen, and a hand pendant (AMI5000 remote pendant) is included, which matters when the spindle can be a long way from where the operator last stood.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 240″ × 72″ of X and Y travel, twice the X of the G-10-06
- 40 HP spindle with a CT50 or CT40 taper and 6,000 RPM
- 20-tool changer with tool calibrator listed for CT50
- Other strokes are available: X from 10′ up to 50′ and Y from 4′ up to 10′
- 90-gallon coolant tank with a chip auger
Limitations
- Z rapid of up to 170 IPM is slow next to the 1200 IPM X rapid
- 6,000 RPM maximum with no torque or gearbox figure in the table
- 20 tools must serve every setup on a 240″ × 72″ envelope, and the count is given for CT50 only
- Z travel is 19.5″, with at most 23.75″ between spindle and table

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Travels are 240″ in X, 72″ in Y and 19.5″ in Z, with 4.25″ to 23.75″ between spindle and table. The table lists travels, not a load rating, so confirm the weight capacity of the T-slot rail system for heavy weldments.
02
They share 240″ of X, 72″ of Y, 40 HP, 6,000 RPM and a 20-tool CT50 changer. The G-20-06 lists 19.5″ of Z and a CT50 or CT40 taper. The GM-20-06 lists 19.2″ of Z and CT50 only.
03
Flex lists X strokes from 10′ up to 50′ and Y strokes from 4′ up to 10′ as available. The G-20-06 as catalogued has 240″ of X and 72″ of Y; the G-10-06 is the catalogued size with 120″ of X on the same Y and Z.
04
It is rated 40 HP with a top speed of 6,000 RPM, and the taper has to be chosen: CT50 or CT40. The tool changer figure of 20 tools, with tool calibrator, is tied to CT50 in the table. Torque is not published in the table, so request the torque curve if the work is heavy roughing at low speed.
05
X travel is 240″ on both. The C-20-02 has 24″ of Y, 17.5″ of Z, an 18 HP CT40 spindle, 16 tools and a 300 IPM Z rapid. The G-20-06 has 72″ of Y, 19.5″ of Z, 40 HP, 20 tools on CT50 and a 170 IPM Z rapid.
