Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Flex Machine Tools C-20-02 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Flex Machine Tools C-20-02 puts 240″ of X travel under a CT40 spindle, with 24″ of Y and 17.5″ of Z. X is ten times Y. That proportion is the whole point of the machine: it is built to reach along a very long part, or along a line of separate setups, with an 18 HP, 6,000 RPM spindle and 16 tools.
The C-10-02 has half the X, 120″, on identical Y and Z, with the same CT40 taper, 6,000 RPM, 18 HP and 16-tool changer. Flex states that X strokes from 10′ up to 50′ are available, so the two catalogued sizes are points on a range. If a part needs width as well as length, the G-20-06 has 240″ of X with 72″ of Y, 19.5″ of Z and 40 HP.
At this length the X rapid matters. It is listed at up to 1200 IPM, against 1000 IPM in Y and 300 IPM in Z, so a move from one end of the travel to the other is short compared with the cutting it separates. Workholding is three integrated T-slot rails, which lets fixtures be placed wherever the part needs support. One practical use is to set up different jobs at different stations along X and leave them in place.
Accuracy has to be read with the length in mind. Positioning is listed at ±0.003 in on X and ±0.002 in on Y and Z, and repeatability at ±0.0007 in on X and ±0.0005 in on Y and Z. The X figures are the ones to compare with the drawing when a part has features at both ends.
The coolant tank is 90 gallons and a chip auger clears the chips. Control is the Omron FlexCNC controller, with a mobile control panel carrying a 22″ touch screen and a hand pendant (AMI5000 remote pendant). A 4th axis with a 10″ or 16″ platter, fixed table and tailstock is optional.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 240″ of X travel, twice the 120″ of the C-10-02 on the same Y and Z
- X rapid of up to 1200 IPM for moves along the long axis
- 90-gallon coolant tank and a chip auger
- CT40 spindle with 18 HP and 6,000 RPM, served by a 16-tool changer with tool calibrator
- Three integrated T-slot rails let fixtures sit wherever the part needs support
Limitations
- Y travel is 24″, a tenth of X; wide parts need the 72″ of Y on the G-20-06
- The spindle is 18 HP, less than half the 40 HP of the G-20-06, with no torque figure listed
- 16 tools have to cover every setup placed along the 240″ travel
- Z rapid is limited to 300 IPM and Z travel to 17.5″

Frequently Asked Questions
01
X travel is 240″, with 24″ of Y and 17.5″ of Z, and the spindle-to-table distance runs from 5″ to 22.5″. Flex lists X strokes from 10′ up to 50′ as available, so a longer stroke can be asked for if the part exceeds 240″.
02
Length. The C-20-02 has 240″ of X travel and the C-10-02 has 120″. Y is 24″ and Z is 17.5″ on both, and both list a CT40 spindle with 6,000 RPM and 18 HP, a 16-tool changer and the Omron FlexCNC controller.
03
Up to 1200 IPM in X, 1000 IPM in Y and 300 IPM in Z. X being the fastest axis suits a machine with 240″ of travel, where most non-cutting time is spent moving along the part. Z is the slowest, which shows up in deep-hole and peck cycles.
04
Both have 240″ of X. The C-20-02 has 24″ of Y, 17.5″ of Z and an 18 HP CT40 spindle. The G-20-06 has 72″ of Y, 19.5″ of Z and 40 HP with a CT50 or CT40 taper. Narrow, long work in lighter cuts fits the C-20-02; wide plate or heavier milling points to the G-20-06.
05
A 90-gallon coolant tank and a chip auger. The table does not list coolant pump pressure or through-spindle coolant, so ask Flex about both if the work includes deep drilling.
