How much does the Feeler SHM-800 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Feeler SHM-800 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
With 2,000 mm (78.7 in) of X travel, the Feeler SHM-800 is the wide model among the SHM horizontal boring and milling machines. Y is 1,100 mm (43.3 in), Z is 1,200 mm (47.2 in), and the 800 x 800 mm (31.5 x 31.5 in) table takes 3,000 kg (6,614 lb).
Two metres of cross travel past an 800 mm table gives the spindle access to long workpieces that overhang the table on both sides: machine beds, long gearbox housings, beams with bored bosses along their length. It is the opposite emphasis to the SHM-800L, which trades X for height.
The axes are slow. Feeler lists 10/10/10 m/min, the lowest rapid rate in the series. On boring-mill work that seldom decides the cycle, since a single bore may be roughed, semi-finished and finished with three tools before the table moves at all, but it is a figure to know when the job has many scattered features.
What the maker stresses is the structure. The base is box-type and all three axes are fully supported, which Feeler says eliminates overhang and maintains accuracy under heavy loads. The spindle head is hydraulically balanced and gear-driven, with a top speed of 4,000 rpm, and the spindle itself is alloy steel on high-rigidity bearings, described as suited to fine boring. The table indexes at 1°/360, and the magazine holds 40 tools, or 60 as the bracketed option. Spindle taper, quill and power data are not on the page.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 2,000 mm (78.7 in) of X travel, the longest in the SHM series
- 3,000 kg (6,614 lb) table load
- Fully supported three-axis configuration that eliminates overhang, per Feeler
- Gear-driven spindle with high torque output
- 1,200 mm (47.2 in) of Z travel
Limitations
- Rapids of 10/10/10 m/min, the slowest SHM model
- Y travel of 1,100 mm, where the SHM-800L has 1,600 mm
- Indexing table in 1° steps only
- No spindle taper, power, torque or quill travel is published

Frequently Asked Questions
01
2,000 mm (78.7 in) in X, 1,100 mm (43.3 in) in Y and 1,200 mm (47.2 in) in Z, with rapid traverse listed as 10/10/10 m/min.
02
The table is 800 x 800 mm (31.5 x 31.5 in) with a maximum loading weight of 3,000 kg (6,614 lb). The indexing angle is printed as 1°/360.
03
The table prints 40(60): 40 tools, with 60 as the bracketed alternative. Feeler's tables use brackets for optional values. Tool size and weight limits are not given.
04
The SHM table has no W-axis row, although its rapid traverse row is labelled X/Y/Z/W and gives three values. Feeler's SHB series does list W-axis travel and a boring spindle diameter. Ask the maker whether the SHM spindle has a quill.
