How much does the Feeler FMH-400 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Feeler FMH-400 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Feeler FMH-400 is the smallest horizontal machining center in the FMH series, built around 400 x 400 mm (15.7 x 15.7 in) pallets that carry 400 kg (882 lb). Travels are 610 mm (24.0 in) in X and 560 mm (22.0 in) in both Y and Z.
A horizontal earns its place through the pallet changer and the rotary table under the pallet. Feeler says the FMH machines have a rotary pallet changer with a low center of gravity. One pallet is in the cut while the other is loaded, and the part on a tombstone can be indexed to present up to four faces to the spindle, so a housing that would take several clampings on a vertical is finished in one or two. Chips also fall away from the cut instead of collecting on the part.
The spindle is 8,000 rpm with a 7/24 No.40 taper. That is a moderate top speed, suited to steel, iron and general aluminium work with standard tooling. Rapid traverse is 30 m/min (1,181 ipm) on all three axes. The tool row reads 40-120, which indicates a base magazine of 40 tools with larger magazines available up to 120, a useful range when several part families share the machine.
Feeler names roller linear guides and finite element analysis of the structure for the series. The table for this model has no pallet indexing increment, pallet change time, maximum workpiece swing or spindle power; all four are needed to judge a horizontal, so request them with the quotation.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Two-pallet rotary pallet changer on a compact 400 mm horizontal
- Travels of 610 x 560 x 560 mm, generous for a 400 mm pallet
- Magazine sizes from 40 up to 120 tools
- 30 m/min (1,181 ipm) rapids on X, Y and Z
- Roller linear guides named for the series
Limitations
- Pallet load is 400 kg (882 lb), tombstone and fixtures included
- 8,000 rpm spindle limits small-tool work in aluminium
- No.40 taper only on this model
- Indexing increment, pallet change time and spindle power are not published

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The pallet is 400 x 400 mm (15.7 x 15.7 in) and the maximum loading weight is 400 kg (882 lb). That includes the tombstone or fixture, so the usable workpiece weight is lower.
02
610 mm (24.0 in) in X, 560 mm (22.0 in) in Y and 560 mm (22.0 in) in Z. Rapid traverse is 30 m/min (1,181 ipm) on each axis.
03
An 8,000 rpm spindle with a 7/24 Taper No.40. Feeler's table for this model lists no alternative speed or taper, and no power or torque figure.
04
The FMH-500 has 500 x 500 mm pallets and 710 mm of Y and Z travel, and is offered with a No.40 or a No.50 taper. The FMH-400 is the smaller machine, No.40 only. Both list 30 m/min rapids and a 40-120 tool range.
