Price estimate
We do not have a price for the SW BX 621 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The SW BX 621 is a twin-spindle machining center for heavy cutting at low speed. Its two HSK-A100 spindles have a speed range of 1-6,000 rpm with 26 kW and 250 Nm each, both rated at 25% ED. They stand 600 mm (23.6 in) apart.
It is the only model on SW's BX 6 page, and SW gives it the nickname of the beginner. The feature list is shorter than for the BA machines. It names multi-spindle productivity, a monoblock design, the multi-touch control panel and tool control system, and flexible automation. Loading in parallel to machining time is not on the list for this model.
The work space per spindle is 600 mm (23.6 in) in X, 525 mm (20.7 in) in Y and 400 mm (15.7 in) in Z, and the 4th axis clears Ø 630 x 1,420 mm. Z is short for a machine of this width. Parts should be flat or be presented by the rotary axis so that long tool reach is not needed.
SW names brake calipers, hot-side turbine housings for turbochargers and shift forks as typical work. Those are cast and forged parts with heat-resistant or tough materials, where cutting speed is low and torque at the tool does the work. A 6,000 rpm limit is no handicap there. For aluminium it would be, and SW has faster spindles in its other 600 mm machines.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Two HSK-A100 spindles with 250 Nm each at 25% ED
- 600 mm (23.6 in) spindle distance and 600 mm of X per spindle
- Ø 630 x 1,420 mm interference circle on the 4th axis
- Monoblock design and tool control system on SW's feature list
Limitations
- Speed range ends at 6,000 rpm, which is slow for aluminium and small tools
- Z travel is 400 mm (15.7 in)
- One spindle package only, with 26 kW at 25% ED
- SW's feature list for the BX 6 does not name loading in parallel to machining time

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Heavy machining. SW's video on the BX 6 page is titled heavy machining, and the spindle data agree: HSK-A100, 250 Nm and 26 kW per spindle at 25% ED, with a speed range of 1-6,000 rpm. SW names brake calipers, hot-side turbine housings and shift forks as workpieces.
02
Each spindle has 600 mm (23.6 in) of X, 525 mm (20.7 in) of Y and 400 mm (15.7 in) of Z. The spindles are 600 mm (23.6 in) apart, and the interference circle of the 4th axis is Ø 630 x 1,420 mm.
03
The BA 622 offers six spindle packages up to 375 Nm and 600 mm (23.6 in) of travel in all three axes. The BX 621 has one package, 250 Nm at up to 6,000 rpm, with 525 mm (20.7 in) of Y and 400 mm (15.7 in) of Z. SW's page titles the BX 6 the beginner.

It will cut it, but the spindle is not chosen for it. A 1-6,000 rpm range keeps small carbide tools far below their useful speed. SW's 600 mm machines with HSK-A63 spindles, such as the BA W06-22 at up to 17,500 rpm, are the ones laid out for light metal.
