Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Feeler FMH-500 Premium that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Speed is what the Premium name stands for on the Feeler FMH-500 Premium. Its three axes rapid at 48 m/min (1,890 ipm), the highest figure in the FMH table, and its spindles turn faster than those of the standard machine: 10,000 rpm with the No.40 taper and 8,000 rpm with the No.50.
It uses the same 500 x 500 mm (19.7 x 19.7 in) pallet. X travel is 762 mm (30.0 in), Y is 710 mm (28.0 in), and Z is 800 mm (31.5 in). That longer Z matters on a horizontal, because Z is the axis that has to clear the tombstone as it indexes and still reach a bore on the far side with a long tool. Unlike the standard FMH-500, the X figure here is the same for both spindle tapers.
On a 500 mm horizontal running aluminium or mixed batches, non-cutting time is a large part of the cycle: moves between faces, between parts on a tombstone, to and from the tool changer. Faster axes go straight at that share. So does a No.40 spindle at 10,000 rpm when the work is drilled and tapped aluminium. The tool range is 40-120.
Feeler's description of the FMH-500 covers a low center of gravity three-point support design, a high-low rail base, a modular short-column spindle and a three-axis thermal control system. Pallet load is printed as 1°: 500 kg / 0.001°: 600 kg in the No.40 column; the cell in the No.50 column is blank. Confirm the load for the No.50 version, along with spindle power for both.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 48 m/min (1,890 ipm) rapids on X, Y and Z, the fastest in the FMH series
- 10,000 rpm with the No.40 spindle, 8,000 rpm with the No.50
- 800 mm (31.5 in) of Z travel on a 500 mm pallet machine
- X travel of 762 mm is kept with both tapers
- Three-axis thermal control system described by Feeler for the FMH-500
Limitations
- Pallet load is the same 500 or 600 kg as the standard FMH-500
- The load cell for the No.50 column is blank in the maker's table
- Y travel of 710 mm is unchanged from the standard model
- Spindle power, torque and pallet change time are not published

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Rapids, spindle speed and Z travel. The FMH-500 lists 30 m/min rapids, 710 mm of Z and 8,000 or 6,000 rpm. The FMH-500 Premium lists 48 m/min, 800 mm of Z and 10,000 rpm for No.40 or 8,000 rpm for No.50.
02
A 7/24 Taper No.40 at 10,000 rpm and a 7/24 Taper No.50 at 8,000 rpm, shown as two columns under the FMH-500 Premium heading. The table does not say whether they are direct drive, belt or geared.

762 x 710 x 800 mm (30.0 x 28.0 x 31.5 in) on a 500 x 500 mm (19.7 x 19.7 in) pallet. The tool magazine range is 40-120.

For the No.40 column Feeler prints 1°: 500 kg / 0.001°: 600 kg, the load depending on the rotary table type. The corresponding cell for the No.50 column is empty in the table, so that figure needs to be confirmed.
