Feeler FDM-6232 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Feeler FDM-6232 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Feeler or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The Feeler FDM-6232 is a six-metre mould machining center: 6,200 mm (244.1 in) of X travel, 3,100 mm (122.0 in) of Y, and a table 6,000 mm long by 2,600 mm wide (236.2 × 102.4 in) rated at 24 ton.

Height is the dimension to plan on a machine like this. Z travel is 800 mm (31.5 in) as listed, and the brackets offer 1,000-1,400 mm (39.4-55.1 in). A deep cavity, a tall core or a long attachment head each uses up Z quickly, and a short stroke forces long tools, which chatter. The longer strokes trade stiffness at full extension instead. Decide from the tallest mould and the longest tool, and ask for the distance from spindle nose to table at both ends of the stroke, which the series table omits.

Feeler says the spindle head and slide contact surfaces are enlarged to increase rigidity and dampen vibration. That is the part of the structure a long Z stroke loads most.

Load is 24 ton, or 27 ton bracketed, matching the longer but narrower FDM-7228. X and Z rapid at 12 m/min (472 ipm), Y at 15 m/min (591 ipm). The spindle is listed at 6,000 rpm on BT/DIN/CAT 50 with 4,000-8,000 rpm and #40 bracketed; Y has a bracketed 3,700 mm (145.7 in); the magazine is 24 tools with 32-90 bracketed.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Z travel options of 1,000-1,400 mm (39.4-55.1 in) for deep moulds
  • 24 ton load, 27 ton bracketed, on a 6,000 mm table
  • 3,100 mm (122.0 in) of Y travel over a 2,600 mm wide table
  • Enlarged spindle head and slide contact surfaces for rigidity

Limitations

  • Listed Z travel is only 800 mm (31.5 in)
  • X rapid of 12 m/min (472 ipm)
  • Spindle-nose-to-table distance is not given in the series table

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What Z travel does the Feeler FDM-6232 have?

800 mm (31.5 in) as listed. The brackets give 1,000-1,400 mm (39.4-55.1 in), which reads as a range of longer strokes available to order. Z rapid traverse is 12 m/min (472 ipm).

02 How heavy a mould can it take?

24 ton as listed and 27 ton by the bracketed figure, on a table of 6,000 × 2,600 mm. The wider FDM-6235 is listed at 27 (30) ton.

03 Which model is one size longer?

The FDM-7232, with 7,200 mm of X travel, a 7,000 mm table and a load row of 27 (30) ton. Y travel, Z travel, spindle and magazine rows are the same as on the FDM-6232.

04 How is the spindle head built?

Feeler states that the spindle head and slide contact surfaces are enlarged to increase rigidity and dampen vibration, and that this allows the use of larger diameter tools and improves material removal rates. No dimensions or stiffness values are given.
