Feeler FDM-5232 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Feeler FDM-5232 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Feeler or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

Feeler lists the FDM-5232 with 5,200 mm (204.7 in) of X travel, 3,100 mm (122.0 in) of Y and a 5,000 × 2,600 mm (196.9 × 102.4 in) table rated at 23 ton. Bracketed alternatives are 3,700 mm (145.7 in) of Y and 26 ton.

It is the middle of the middle: the third of five lengths in the second of three widths. That makes it a useful reference point for reading the FDM table as a whole. Moving down a width, the FDM-5228 has the same table and 18 (23) ton. Moving up, the FDM-5235 has a table 3,000 mm wide and 26 (29) ton. Each step across adds Y travel and load; only the last adds table.

For mould work the heavier rating is the practical gain. A five-metre steel mould half is dense, and the plates, parallels and clamps under it add to the total. Feeler's four-rail symmetrical table layout is described as giving wide load-bearing surfaces, and the structure as cast iron with a box-type base.

X and Y rapid at 15 m/min (591 ipm); this is the longest 32 model to do so on X. Z rapid is 12 m/min (472 ipm). Spindle: 6,000 rpm, BT/DIN/CAT 50, with 4,000-8,000 rpm and #40 bracketed. Z travel: 800 mm (31.5 in), with 1,000-1,400 mm bracketed. Tools: 24, with 32-90 bracketed.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 23 ton listed load, 26 ton bracketed, on a 5,000 × 2,600 mm table
  • 3,100 mm (122.0 in) of Y travel, with 3,700 mm (145.7 in) bracketed
  • X rapid of 15 m/min (591 ipm), the longest model of its width with that rate
  • Four-rail symmetrical table guideways for wide load-bearing surfaces

Limitations

  • Table width stays at 2,600 mm; the 3,000 mm table needs the FDM-5235
  • Spindle options end at 8,000 rpm
  • No power, torque or accuracy data on the series page

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What are the key figures of the Feeler FDM-5232?

X travel 5,200 mm (204.7 in), Y travel 3,100 mm (122.0 in), Z travel 800 mm (31.5 in), table 5,000 × 2,600 mm (196.9 × 102.4 in), load 23 ton, spindle 6,000 rpm on a 50 taper, 24 tools. Most rows also carry a bracketed alternative.

02 How does it compare with the FDM-5228 and FDM-5235?

All three have 5,200 mm of X travel. The FDM-5228 lists 2,700 (3,300) mm of Y and 18 (23) ton; the FDM-5235 lists 3,400 (4,000) mm of Y, a 3,000 mm wide table and 26 (29) ton. The FDM-5232 sits between them.

03 Is the X axis fast for its length?

X rapid is 15 m/min (591 ipm). The next length, the FDM-6232, is listed at 12 m/min (472 ipm), so this is the longest model of the 32 group at the higher rate.

04 What does the table sit on?

Feeler describes table guideways in an optimized four-rail symmetrical layout for wide load-bearing surfaces, on a cast iron box-type base with reinforced ribs. The guideway type and size are not stated.
