Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Emco Emcoturn E25 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Emco Emcoturn E25 is a compact bar-and-chuck lathe built around a 25.5 mm (1.0 in) bar passage, a 85 mm (3.3 in) maximum turning diameter and a main spindle that runs to 6,300 rpm. It is the smallest of the three Emcoturn E machines, and everything about it is scaled to small parts: 100 mm (3.9 in) of X travel, 300 mm (11.8 in) of Z and 405 mm (15.9 in) between centres.
Spindle output is 5.5 kW (7.4 hp) and 35 Nm (25.8 lb-ft). Those are modest figures, and they suit the envelope, because a part that fits under this turning limit rarely asks for more. The nose is listed as ø70mm h5, not a standard short-taper size, so chucks and collet fixtures from other lathes will not bolt straight on.
The turret takes VDI 16 holders in 12 stations, and 6 of them can be driven. Driven tools turn at up to 6,000 rpm with 1.2 kW (1.6 hp) and 4 Nm (3.0 lb-ft). That covers cross holes, small flats and light slots, with the C axis that Emco lists for the main spindle doing the positioning. The travel row shows no Y figure and the table has no counter spindle; in this family those start with the Emcoturn E45.
Shaft work is held by a manual tailstock with an automatic quill, and the quill moves 120 mm (4.7 in). The machine weighs 1,400 kg (3,086 lb) and occupies 1,700 x 1,270 x 1,820 mm (66.9 x 50.0 x 71.7 in), which is why it ends up in cells and corners where a larger turning centre would not go. Emco names the Sinumerik 828D or the Fanuc 0iTD as the control.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Small footprint: 1,700 x 1,270 x 1,820 mm (66.9 x 50.0 x 71.7 in) at 1,400 kg (3,086 lb)
- Main spindle runs to 6,300 rpm, useful surface speed on diameters under 85 mm (3.3 in)
- 12-station VDI 16 turret with 6 driven positions and a C axis on the main spindle
- Rapids of 15 m/min (591 ipm) in X and 24 m/min (945 ipm) in Z keep short cycles short
- Choice of Sinumerik 828D or Fanuc 0iTD with dialogue programming
Limitations
- Bar passage stops at 25.5 mm (1.0 in) and turning diameter at 85 mm (3.3 in)
- Driven tools have 1.2 kW (1.6 hp) and 4 Nm (3.0 lb-ft): drilling and light milling only
- No Y axis and no counter spindle in the table, so back-side work needs a second setup
- The tailstock is manual; only the quill is automatic

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The table lists a bar diameter of 25.5 mm (1.0 in). Chuck work is limited by the 85 mm (3.3 in) maximum turning diameter and the 250 mm (9.8 in) swing over the bed, so this is a machine for small parts in both modes.
02
Yes. 6 of the 12 turret stations can be driven, at up to 6,000 rpm with 1.2 kW (1.6 hp) and 4 Nm (3.0 lb-ft). Emco lists a C axis for the main spindle alongside them. The figures point to drilling, tapping and light milling, not heavy slotting.
03
Size and configuration. The Emcoturn E45 passes bar of 45 (51) mm, has 510 mm (20.1 in) of Z travel and lists Y travel and a counter spindle in its table. The E25 stays at 25.5 mm (1.0 in) bar and 300 mm (11.8 in) of Z, with a single spindle and a tailstock.
04
The machine itself measures 1,700 x 1,270 x 1,820 mm (66.9 x 50.0 x 71.7 in) (length x width x height) and weighs 1,400 kg (3,086 lb). Allow extra length for a bar loader if the machine is going to run from bar stock.
