Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Emco S65 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Torque is the headline of the Emco S65: 192 Nm (141.6 lb-ft) from an 18 kW (24.1 hp) main spindle that tops out at 4,200 rpm. It is a two-axis CNC lathe for 65 mm (2.6 in) bar and chuck parts up to 310 mm (12.2 in) in diameter, and the low top speed tells you where it is meant to work, on larger diameters and tougher cuts than a small bar lathe sees.
Z travel is 610 mm (24.0 in) and X travel 210 mm (8.3 in). Emco gives 680 mm (26.8 in) from spindle nose to centre, so shaft-type parts of moderate length are within reach. Swing over the bed is 540 mm (21.3 in).
All 12 turret stations can carry driven tools. They are rated 5,000 rpm, 5 kW (6.7 hp) and 20 Nm (14.8 lb-ft), a step above the S45, which drives 6 stations at 4 kW (5.4 hp). The table still shows no Y axis and no second spindle. Anything that has to be milled off centre or finished on the back needs another operation.
For its capacity the machine is light on floor space at 2,855 x 1,770 x 1,880 mm (112.4 x 69.7 x 74.0 in) and 4,300 kg (9,480 lb). The equipment list names the Sinumerik 828D and the Fanuc Oi TD as controls.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 192 Nm (141.6 lb-ft) of spindle torque with 18 kW (24.1 hp)
- All 12 turret stations can be driven, at 5 kW (6.7 hp) and 20 Nm (14.8 lb-ft)
- 610 mm (24.0 in) of Z travel and 680 mm (26.8 in) from spindle nose to centre
- Footprint of 2,855 x 1,770 x 1,880 mm (112.4 x 69.7 x 74.0 in) for a 65 mm (2.6 in) bar machine
Limitations
- Spindle speed stops at 4,200 rpm, which limits surface speed on small diameters
- No Y axis or counter spindle is listed
- Maximum turning diameter is 310 mm (12.2 in), below the 540 mm (21.3 in) swing

Frequently Asked Questions
01
A 65 mm (2.6 in) bar passage, 310 mm (12.2 in) maximum turning diameter, 540 mm (21.3 in) swing over the bed, 210 mm (8.3 in) of X travel and 610 mm (24.0 in) of Z travel. The distance from spindle nose to centre is 680 mm (26.8 in).

The main spindle is rated 18 kW (24.1 hp) and 192 Nm (141.6 lb-ft) with a maximum speed of 4,200 rpm. Compared with the S45, at 11 kW (14.8 hp) and 70 Nm (51.6 lb-ft), it has far more torque and a lower top speed.
03
Up to 12, one for every turret station. The driven-tool drive is rated 5,000 rpm, 5 kW (6.7 hp) and 20 Nm (14.8 lb-ft). With no Y axis in the table, milled features have to sit on the part centreline or be reached with the C axis.
04
No. The Emcoturn E65 lists Y travel, a counter spindle and a 22 kW (29.5 hp) main spindle, and it weighs 6,500 kg (14,330 lb). The S65 is the simpler two-axis machine at 4,300 kg (9,480 lb).
