Emco Maxxturn 25 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Emco Maxxturn 25 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Emco or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

Small parts finished on both ends in one cycle: that is the job of the Emco Maxxturn 25. It pairs an 8,000 rpm main spindle with a counter spindle of the same speed, passes 25.4 mm (1.0 in) bar and turns up to 114 mm (4.5 in) in diameter, all inside a machine that weighs 2,100 kg (4,630 lb).

The two spindles are not equal partners. The main spindle has 6.5 kW (8.7 hp) and 30 Nm (22.1 lb-ft); the counter spindle has 3.5 kW (4.7 hp) and 20 Nm (14.8 lb-ft). Both use the same Ø70 h5 mm nose, so workholding is common, but the second side should be planned as the lighter operation: facing, chamfering, a bore, a thread.

A Y axis is built into the machine design, with +20 / -15 mm of travel. On a part this small that is enough to put a flat or a cross hole off the centreline. The 12-station VDI 16 turret drives 6 tools at up to 6,000 rpm, with 1.2 kW (1.6 hp) and 4 Nm (3.0 lb-ft), and Emco states that the turret has 36 indexing positions, which lets half-station tooling sit between the main positions.

Axis travels are 100 mm (3.9 in) in X and 320 mm (12.6 in) in Z, with rapids listed as 20/10/30 m/min. The enclosure measures 2,180 x 1,425 x 1,870 mm (85.8 x 56.1 x 73.6 in). Siemens or Fanuc controls are offered.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Main and counter spindle both run to 8,000 rpm and share the Ø70 h5 mm nose
  • Y axis of +20 / -15 mm integrated into the machine design
  • Turret with 36 indexing positions, 12 VDI 16 stations and 6 driven tools
  • Only 2,100 kg (4,630 lb) and 2,180 x 1,425 x 1,870 mm (85.8 x 56.1 x 73.6 in)

Limitations

  • Counter spindle has 3.5 kW (4.7 hp) and 20 Nm (14.8 lb-ft), roughly half the main spindle
  • Driven tools are limited to 1.2 kW (1.6 hp) and 4 Nm (3.0 lb-ft)
  • Bar capacity is 25.4 mm (1.0 in); anything larger is chuck work up to 114 mm (4.5 in)

Best For

Complete machining of bar parts up to 25.4 mm (1.0 in) Small precision parts that need work on both ends High-speed turning of small diameters at 8,000 rpm Light off-centre drilling and milling with the Y axis

Frequently Asked Questions

01 Does the Maxxturn 25 have a counter spindle?

Yes. The counter spindle runs to 8,000 rpm with 3.5 kW (4.7 hp) and 20 Nm (14.8 lb-ft), on the same Ø70 h5 mm nose as the main spindle. The distance between the two spindles is 485 mm (19.1 in).

02 How much Y travel does the Maxxturn 25 have?

The table gives +20 / -15 mm for Y, next to 100 mm (3.9 in) in X and 320 mm (12.6 in) in Z. Emco describes the Y axis as integrated directly into the machine design, not added through a wedge-type auxiliary slide on the turret.

03 What tooling does the turret take?

VDI 16 holders in 12 stations. 6 stations can be driven, at up to 6,000 rpm, 1.2 kW (1.6 hp) and 4 Nm (3.0 lb-ft). Emco also lists 36 indexing positions for the turret.

04 How does the Maxxturn 25 compare with the Emcoturn E25?

Both are 25.4 mm (1.0 in)-class bar machines with VDI 16 turrets. The Emcoturn E25 is a single-spindle lathe with a tailstock and a 6,300 rpm spindle. The Maxxturn 25 adds the counter spindle and the Y axis and raises spindle speed to 8,000 rpm.
