How much does the Ecoca MT-108A cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Ecoca MT-108A that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Ecoca builds the MT-108A as the self-loading version of its 8 in (203 mm) chuck lathe. The page describes it in one line: it is equipped with a high speed robot arm and a big capacity material stock. The turning side is the MT-108 unchanged, with a 380 mm (15.0 in) maximum turning diameter, 260 mm (10.2 in) of turning length, 10 turret stations and a 4,500 rpm spindle driven by a 7.5/11 kW (10.1/14.8 hp) motor.
Two rows appear in this table that the manual-load machine does not have. Jaw travel is 6 mm (0.2 in), which Ecoca marks as unilateral, and jaw rotary travel is 180°. These describe the gripper of the loader, and they set the rules for the blank. A stroke of 6 mm (0.2 in) per side means the gripper fingers have to be made close to the part diameter, and a change of part family will usually mean a change of fingers. The 180° rotation is what lets the arm turn a part around or swap a raw piece for a finished one.
What the page leaves out matters as much for automation. It gives no payload for the arm, no blank diameter or length range and no stock count. Collect those from Ecoca with a sample part in hand.
Weight rises to 3,510 kg (7,738 lb), from 3,350 kg (7,385 lb) for the MT-108. The base is the family's 30° slant bed with box ways, listed as HARD RAIL. If the parts need 12 stations, the MT-108MA is the automated alternative, with a smaller 280 mm (11.0 in) turning diameter.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Robot arm and material stock are part of the machine as Ecoca describes it
- Keeps the full MT-108 envelope: 380 mm (15.0 in) turning diameter and 260 mm (10.2 in) turning length
- Gripper rotates 180°, so parts can be turned over or exchanged at the chuck
- 30° slant bed and box ways without a wedge wear plate, with C3 grade ball screws
Limitations
- Gripper jaw travel is 6 mm (0.2 in) unilateral, so fingers must be matched closely to each blank size
- No arm payload, blank size range or stock capacity is given on Ecoca's page
- 10 turret stations; the 12-station automated model is the MT-108MA
- Turning length is limited to 260 mm (10.2 in)

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Ecoca states that the machine is equipped with a high speed robot arm and a big capacity material stock. The table adds two loader figures: jaw travel of 6 mm (0.2 in), marked unilateral, and jaw rotary travel of 180°. Payload and stock capacity are not published on the page.
02
Yes, row for row. Both list a 380 mm (15.0 in) maximum turning diameter, 260 mm (10.2 in) maximum turning length, an 8 in (203 mm) chuck, 4,500 rpm and 10 tool stations. The MT-108A weighs 3,510 kg (7,738 lb) and the MT-108 weighs 3,350 kg (7,385 lb).
03
The loader's gripper jaws move 6 mm (0.2 in) on each side. That is enough to grip and release a part of one nominal size, not to span a range of diameters, so expect to fit different gripper fingers when the blank diameter changes by more than a few millimetres.
04
The table lists HARD RAIL guideways, which are box ways. Ecoca's description adds a 30° slant bed for chip evacuation, a box way design without a wedge wear plate, and high accuracy ball screws of C3 level.
