Overview
The DN Solutions DNM 5700 S is the high-speed variant of the popular DNM 5700 platform, bumping spindle speed from 8,000 to 15,000 RPM for shops that need to push aluminum, graphite, and softer materials at aggressive surface speeds. You're still getting the same box-way rigidity that makes the DNM line a favorite for steel and cast iron work, but now with the RPM headroom to tackle high-speed applications too.
Axis travels measure 1,050 x 570 x 510 mm (41 x 22 x 20 in), identical to the base DNM 5700. The spindle delivers 18.5 kW (25 hp) and 117.8 Nm of torque through an ISO 40 taper — the same power as the standard model, so you don't sacrifice low-end torque by going high-speed. That's a meaningful distinction because some high-speed spindles trade torque for RPM. The DNM 5700 S doesn't make that compromise.
The table measures 1,300 x 570 mm with 800 kg load capacity, slightly less than the standard model's 1,000 kg due to the dynamic demands of high-speed cutting. At 6,500 kg machine weight, the thermal mass keeps things stable even when the spindle's running at full tilt for extended aluminum roughing passes. The Fanuc 0i-Plus control handles high-speed contouring with look-ahead capability that matters when you're cutting at 15,000 RPM with small stepovers.
Shops that run a mix of steel and aluminum will appreciate having 15,000 RPM on tap without needing a dedicated high-speed machine. The DNM 5700 S bridges that gap — rigid enough for steel roughing, fast enough for aluminum finishing. It's a versatile platform for job shops that can't predict what material walks through the door next week.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 15,000 RPM spindle handles high-speed aluminum and graphite machining without needing a separate dedicated machine
- Box-way construction retains heavy-cutting rigidity even with the high-speed spindle — doesn't sacrifice steel-cutting capability
- Same 18.5 kW / 117.8 Nm torque as the standard DNM 5700, so low-RPM steel performance isn't compromised
- Fanuc 0i-Plus with high-speed look-ahead keeps surface finish quality high during complex contouring at speed
- Proven DNM platform with 30,000+ unit global installed base ensures reliable parts and service support
Limitations
- 800 kg table load capacity is less than the standard DNM 5700's 1,000 kg — heavier fixtures may push the limit
- 510 mm Z-axis travel is tight for deep-cavity mold work or tall parts
- 15,000 RPM still falls short of dedicated high-speed machines running 20,000-30,000 RPM for electrode and graphite work
- Box-way construction requires periodic way maintenance that linear-guide high-speed machines avoid

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The DNM 5700 S runs $90,000-$130,000 new, about $10,000-$15,000 more than the standard 8,000 RPM DNM 5700. The high-speed spindle is the primary cost adder. Used Doosan-era models sell for $35,000-$65,000 depending on hours and condition.
02
For most production aluminum work, absolutely. You can run 1/2" endmills at full recommended surface speed in 6061. For very small tools (1/8" and under) or graphite electrode finishing, shops sometimes want 20,000+ RPM, but 15K covers the vast majority of aluminum applications.
03
Same frame, same box-way construction, same torque and power. The S model upgrades spindle speed from 8,000 to 15,000 RPM and reduces table load from 1,000 to 800 kg. If your work is primarily steel and cast iron at moderate speeds, the standard model saves money. If you need speed for aluminum, the S is worth the premium.
04
Yes. It's the same box-way platform with the same torque specs. The high-speed spindle doesn't reduce low-end cutting capability. You'll rough steel at the same feeds and depths as the standard DNM 5700 — you just also have 15,000 RPM available when you switch to aluminum.
