Overview

The DN Solutions VM 750 L is the long-bed variant of the VM 750, stretching X-axis travel to 1,800 mm (71 in) while keeping the same 750 mm (30 in) Y-travel and 800 mm (31 in) Z-depth. If the standard VM 750 almost fits your mold bases but you keep running out of X-travel, this is the fix.

The extra 300 mm of X-travel expands the table to 1,900 x 800 mm with a 3,500 kg (7,716 lb) load capacity. That covers larger progressive dies, multi-cavity mold bases, and elongated tooling components that crowd the standard model. The 18.5 kW (25 hp) spindle at 6,000 RPM and box-guide construction carry over unchanged — you're getting the same cutting performance in a longer package.

At 14,800 kg (32,628 lb), the VM 750 L is 800 kg heavier than the standard 750, mostly in the extended bed and table. That additional mass helps dampen vibration when cutting at the extremes of the longer X-travel. Rapids hold at 20 m/min, keeping non-cutting time in check.

The VM 750 L fills a specific niche: shops that need die/mold-grade rigidity and Z-depth for workpieces between 1.5 and 1.8 meters long. It's cheaper than jumping to the VM 960, which brings more machine than you need if all you want is more X-travel with the same Y and Z envelope.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 1,800 mm X-travel covers longer mold bases and progressive dies that crowd the standard VM 750
  • Same 800 mm Z-depth and box-guide rigidity as the standard VM 750 — no compromises on cutting performance
  • 3,500 kg table capacity handles heavier mold bases than the standard model's 3,000 kg
  • 14,800 kg machine weight maintains excellent vibration damping across the extended bed
  • More cost-effective than the VM 960 when you only need extra X-travel, not extra Y-travel
  • 20 m/min rapids keep positioning efficient despite the longer travel range

Limitations

  • 6,000 RPM spindle limits high-speed finishing in the same way as the standard VM 750
  • 750 mm Y-travel is unchanged from the standard model — no help for wider workpieces
  • Extended bed increases footprint compared to the standard VM 750
  • Box guideway maintenance requirements carry over from the standard model

Best For

Progressive die shops building long die sets that exceed the standard VM 750's X-travel Injection mold manufacturers working with elongated multi-cavity mold bases Automotive tooling shops machining long trim dies and forming tools Mold shops that need VM-series rigidity for workpieces in the 1.5-1.8 meter range

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What does a DN Solutions VM 750 L cost?

New VM 750 L machines sell for $200,000 to $300,000. The L variant carries a modest premium over the standard VM 750, mainly covering the extended bed, larger table, and additional castings.

02 Should I get the VM 750 L or the VM 960?

The VM 960 jumps to 2,000 mm X-travel and 960 mm Y-travel — a much larger machine at 20,000 kg. If you only need more X-travel and 750 mm of Y is sufficient, the VM 750 L saves money and floor space. Choose the 960 when your parts also need more width.

03 Does the VM 750 L use the same tooling as the VM 750?

Yes. The spindle, taper, and tool magazine are identical to the standard VM 750. Any tooling, holders, and programs from the standard model transfer directly to the L variant.

04 What's the longest workpiece the VM 750 L can machine?

With 1,800 mm of X-travel and a 1,900 x 800 mm table, practical part length depends on fixturing. Parts up to about 1,700 mm long can be fully machined in a single setup, accounting for clamping clearance.
