Overview
The DN Solutions DNM 4500 L 4TH combines the extended X-travel of the DNM 4500 L with factory-integrated fourth-axis capability, creating one of the most versatile configurations in the entire DNM lineup. You get 910 mm (36 in) of X-travel, the full 450 mm Y and 510 mm Z, plus an integrated rotary axis that's factory-calibrated and natively supported by the FANUC 0i-Plus control. It's the Swiss Army knife of the DNM 4500 family.
The spindle delivers 8,000 RPM with 18.5 kW (25 hp) and 117.8 Nm of torque through an ISO 40 taper. Rapid traverse rates of 42 m/min on X and Y, 36 m/min on Z keep repositioning fast during indexed 4-axis work, where the machine frequently moves to new positions after each index. Box-way construction ensures that the machine cuts just as rigidly after a 90-degree index as it does in the primary orientation — something lighter linear-guide machines can struggle with when cutting forces change direction.
The 1,050 x 450 mm table with 600 kg load capacity has to support the integrated rotary table plus the workpiece, so fixture weight management matters. But 600 kg is generous for the platform, and most 4-axis work in this size range stays well within the limit. At 5,500 kg machine weight, the DNM 4500 L 4TH has the mass to dampen vibrations during indexed cutting. For shops that need both extended X-travel and 4-axis capability without jumping to the larger and more expensive DNM 5700 4TH, this configuration hits the sweet spot.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Combines extended 910mm X-travel with factory-integrated fourth axis — the most versatile DNM 4500 configuration
- Factory 4-axis integration means proper control support, calibration, and warranty coverage from day one
- Box-way construction maintains cutting rigidity across all index positions during 4-axis work
- 42 m/min rapids minimize repositioning time between indexed operations
- 1,050 x 450 mm table provides generous space for rotary table plus workpiece fixturing
- Still available for standard 3-axis work when the fourth axis isn't needed
Limitations
- 8,000 RPM spindle limits high-speed aluminum machining — consider the 12K or 15K RPM option if aluminum is primary
- Integrated rotary table consumes some of the available Y and Z work envelope
- Price premium over the standard DNM 4500 reflects both the long bed and integrated fourth axis
- 450 mm Y-travel can feel tight when the rotary table is mounted and a larger workpiece is chucked

Frequently Asked Questions
01
New DNM 4500 L 4TH machines run $100,000-$150,000 depending on spindle option and accessories. The base machine starts around $100,000-$120,000. Adding a higher-speed spindle, through-spindle coolant, probing, and chip conveyor pushes pricing to $130,000-$150,000. Budget roughly $15,000-$20,000 more than a standard DNM 4500 L for the integrated fourth axis.
02
The DNM 5700 4TH offers more Y-travel (570 vs 450mm), a larger table (1,050x570 vs 1,050x450mm), and higher load capacity (1,000 vs 600 kg). But the 4500 L 4TH actually matches X-travel at 910mm (vs the 5700's 1,050mm). Choose the 5700 4TH for larger parts needing more Y-travel; the 4500 L 4TH saves money on parts that fit within 450mm Y.
03
The factory-integrated fourth axis supports both indexed positioning and simultaneous 4-axis interpolation. The FANUC 0i-Plus control handles simultaneous 4-axis motion natively, and most modern CAM systems generate the code without special post-processors. Simultaneous 4-axis is standard, not an option.
04
DN Solutions integrates a rotary table matched to the machine's Y-travel and load capacity. The exact size varies by configuration, but it's designed to maximize the usable work zone within the 450mm Y-travel. Contact DN Solutions or your dealer for the specific rotary table diameter for your intended application.
