Overview
The DN Solutions DNM 4500 4TH is the integrated fourth-axis version of DN Solutions' best-selling mid-range VMC. Rather than bolting an aftermarket rotary table onto a standard DNM 4500, this model comes from the factory with the fourth axis built in — properly integrated into the control, verified for accuracy, and covered under the machine warranty. That factory integration matters because the control knows the rotary axis exists, enabling simultaneous 4-axis interpolation and proper coordinate transformations from day one.
The base machine delivers 800 x 450 x 510 mm (32 x 18 x 20 in) of travel with an 8,000 RPM spindle producing 18.5 kW (25 hp) and 117.8 Nm of torque through an ISO 40 taper. Box-way construction provides the rigidity foundation that makes indexing and 4-axis work accurate — when you're rotating a part to machine a new face, you need the machine to cut just as cleanly as it does on the primary orientation. Rapid traverse hits 42 m/min on X and Y, 36 m/min on Z.
The 800 x 450 mm table with 600 kg load capacity accommodates the rotary table and workpiece without compromising the machine's ability to handle standard 3-axis work when the fourth axis isn't needed. At 5,000 kg, the DNM 4500 4TH delivers the stability that indexed and simultaneous 4-axis work demands. The FANUC 0i-Plus control handles 4-axis programming natively, and most CAM systems output 4-axis code for FANUC without any special post-processing headaches.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Factory-integrated fourth axis is properly calibrated, warranted, and recognized by the control — no aftermarket integration headaches
- Box-way construction provides the rigidity needed for accurate indexed and simultaneous 4-axis machining
- 42 m/min rapids keep non-cutting time low during 4-axis work with frequent repositioning
- Full 3-axis capability when the fourth axis isn't needed — you're not giving up standard VMC versatility
- FANUC 0i-Plus handles 4-axis programming natively with broad CAM system support
- 600 kg table load capacity accommodates the rotary axis plus workpiece and fixturing
Limitations
- 8,000 RPM spindle speed limits high-speed aluminum work — consider the 12K or 15K RPM options for aluminum-heavy shops
- 450 mm Y-travel is moderate, and the integrated rotary table consumes some of the available work envelope
- 510 mm Z-travel gets tight with the rotary table height factored in
- Premium over the standard DNM 4500 may not be justified if you only occasionally need 4-axis capability

Frequently Asked Questions
01
New DNM 4500 4TH machines run $90,000-$140,000 depending on spindle option and accessories. The base machine with 8K RPM spindle and integrated fourth axis starts around $90,000-$110,000. Adding the 12K or 15K RPM spindle, through-spindle coolant, probing, and chip conveyor pushes pricing to $120,000-$140,000.
02
For most shops, yes. The factory integration means the control natively understands the rotary axis for simultaneous interpolation and coordinate transformations. Accuracy is verified at the factory. It's covered under the machine warranty. An aftermarket rotary table can work well but requires integration effort, separate warranty management, and may not support true simultaneous 4-axis motion depending on the control configuration.
03
Absolutely. The fourth axis parks out of the way when not needed, and the machine operates as a standard DNM 4500 for 3-axis work. You're not sacrificing any 3-axis capability by having the integrated fourth axis. Many shops run 3-axis jobs 80% of the time and use the fourth axis when multi-sided parts come through.
04
The DNM 5700 4TH has larger travels (1,050x570x510 vs 800x450x510mm), a bigger table (1,050x570 vs 800x450mm), and higher load capacity (1,000 kg vs 600 kg). Choose the 5700 4TH for larger parts. The 4500 4TH covers most small-to-mid-size work at a lower price point.
