DMS Freedom10 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the DMS Freedom10 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from DMS or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The DMS Freedom10 is a 3-axis moving-gantry router with a 60 x 120 in (1,524 x 3,048 mm) cutting area, sized for the oversize sheets that cabinet shops buy. X stroke is 60 in (1,524 mm) and Y stroke 120 in (3,048 mm). DMS describes it as an upgrade in strength and weight over the smaller Freedom machines, with a steel frame meant to stay stable during extended cuts.

Cabinet work is where DMS places it: nested-based machining of Baltic Birch sheets and hardwoods, plus composite panels and thin aluminum. The extra width over a four-foot machine is what lets five-foot sheet stock go on without trimming, and the length gives room to nest a run of cabinet parts in one cycle.

The motion hardware matches the rest of the line. There is a recirculating ball screw assembly on all axes, Fagor industrial AC servo motors and amplifiers, laser-calibrated X and Y axes, and a Fagor 8070 OL 3-axis industrial controller with a 17 in LCD color monitor. A Hiteco 10 hp / 7.5 kW spindle is standard, the listed range is 4.5-8 kW to an 8 kW maximum at 24,000 rpm, and a C-axis is optional. A drill bank is offered as an option for shelf-pin and hardware holes.

The machine runs on 220 V 3-phase power at 60 Hz, the hood takes a 5 in dust collection line, and lubrication is manual. On Z stroke, bridge clearance, rapid feed rate and table material the product page and the data sheet do not agree, so those figures are left for DMS to confirm.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 60 x 120 in (1,524 x 3,048 mm) cutting area for five-foot-wide sheet stock
  • Recirculating ball screw assembly on all axes with Fagor industrial AC servo motors and amplifiers
  • Fagor 8070 OL 3-axis industrial controller with a 17 in LCD color monitor
  • Drill bank available as an option for cabinet work
  • Steel frame that DMS describes as heavier and stronger than the 4 ft x 8 ft Freedom machine

Limitations

  • Maximum spindle power is 8 kW, below the 13 kW / 15 kW listed for the Freedom8
  • Lubrication is manual, so greasing the axes is an operator task
  • DMS publishes conflicting Z stroke, clearance and rapid feed figures for this model
  • The drill bank is an option, not standard equipment

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the working size of the DMS Freedom10?

The cutting area is 60 x 120 in (1,524 x 3,048 mm). The data sheet lists an X axis stroke of 60 in (1,524 mm) and a Y axis stroke of 120 in (3,048 mm). DMS publishes more than one Z stroke figure for this model, so confirm Z and the clearance under the bridge with the maker.

02 What is the Freedom10 built for?

DMS positions it for nested-based machining and larger woodworking jobs such as cabinet systems, and says it is also good at machining hardwoods, Baltic Birch sheets, thin aluminum and composite panels. A drill bank is available as an option.

03 Which spindle does the Freedom10 use?

A Hiteco 10 hp / 7.5 kW electro spindle is standard, with other hp options available. The comparison table gives a spindle range of 4.5-8 kW, a maximum of 8 kW and a maximum speed of 24,000 rpm, and lists the Hiteco MT200, MT201, PT300 and PT402.

04 What control and drives are on the Freedom10?

The control is a Fagor 8070 OL 3-axis industrial controller with a 17 in LCD color monitor. Fagor industrial AC servo motors and amplifiers drive a recirculating ball screw assembly on all axes, and the machine connects by Ethernet TCP/IP, USB and serial port.
