Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Alzmetall GS 1400/5-T that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Alzmetall GS 1400/5-T is a heavy 5-axis machining center with an HSK-A100 spindle, 1,200 × 1,300 × 800 mm (47.2 × 51.2 × 31.5 in) of travel and a table load of 3,000 kg (6,614 lb) including the clamping set-up.
The taper is the reason to choose it. The GS 600/5-T, GS 1000/5-T and GS 1200/5-T are all listed with HSK-A63. A size 100 hollow-shank interface has a larger shank and flange contact face than size 63, so it supports bigger cutters and longer overhang with less deflection. Alzmetall's spec table gives no spindle power, torque or speed, so the actual cutting data must come from Alzmetall, but the interface shows the machine is laid out for heavier tools than the GS 1200/5-T.
Compared with the GS 1200/5-T, which travels 1,000 × 1,200 × 800 mm (39.4 × 47.2 × 31.5 in) and carries 2,500 kg (5,511 lb), this model adds 20% to both X travel and table load while Z stays at 800 mm. It gives back tool places: 33 in the standard chain magazine against 45 on the GS 1200/5-T. Since HSK-A100 tools are large, check with Alzmetall how many of the 33 pockets remain usable with oversize cutters, and consider the twin chain magazine with up to 150 positions or the rack-type magazine designed for 250 positions.
Spindle distance is listed as up to 988 mm (38.9 in). The swivel axis (A) and rotary axis (C) use 3-fold torque drives. Alzmetall describes 4-fold linear guidance for the travel-system carriage and the Z axis, in a structure of grey cast iron and spheroidal graphite cast iron. Heidenhain TNC 7 is the standard control, Siemens SINUMERIK ONE the option; coolant up to 80 bar, kinematics gauging, touch probe and tool setting are options.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- HSK-A100 spindle interface, where the GS 1200/5-T and GS 1000/5-T have HSK-A63
- 3,000 kg (6,614 lb) table load including the clamping set-up, 20% above the 2,500 kg (5,511 lb) of the GS 1200/5-T
- 1,200 × 1,300 × 800 mm (47.2 × 51.2 × 31.5 in) of travel with a spindle distance of up to 988 mm (38.9 in)
- 4-fold linear guidance for the travel-system carriage and the Z axis, in grey cast iron and spheroidal graphite cast iron
- Swivel (A) and rotary (C) axes on 3-fold torque drives, with kinematics gauging offered as a measuring option
Limitations
- Standard chain magazine holds 33 tools, fewer than the 45 of the smaller GS 1200/5-T
- Z travel is 800 mm (31.5 in), no more than on the GS 1200/5-T
- HSK-A100 holders do not interchange with the HSK-A63 tooling used by the GS 1200/5-T and smaller models
- No spindle speed, power or torque in the listed figures, so the benefit of the larger taper cannot be quantified from them
- High-pressure coolant up to 80 bar is an option

Frequently Asked Questions
01
HSK-A100. That is a larger interface than the HSK-A63 listed for the GS 1200/5-T and GS 1000/5-T, and holders are not interchangeable between the two sizes. Alzmetall's listed figures give no spindle speed, power or torque for this model, so request the spindle data sheet when comparing.
02
Travels are 1,200 mm (47.2 in) in X, 1,300 mm (51.2 in) in Y and 800 mm (31.5 in) in Z. The table takes 3,000 kg (6,614 lb), a rating that includes the clamping set-up. Spindle distance is listed as up to 988 mm (38.9 in). Table diameter and the swing available with the A axis tilted are not listed and should be confirmed.
03
It has 33 places on a chain. For a machine of this size that can be tight once roughing, finishing and probing tools for several jobs are loaded. Alzmetall lists two larger options, a twin chain magazine with up to 150 positions and a rack-type magazine designed for 250 positions.
04
The spindle interface. The GS 1400/5-T has HSK-A100 and the GS 1400/5-FDT has HSK-T100. Table load is 3,000 kg (6,614 lb) including the clamping set-up on both, both have a 33-tool chain magazine and both come with Heidenhain TNC 7 as standard.
05
The listed options are high-pressure coolant up to 80 bar, kinematics gauging, a 3D touch probe (infrared), a tool setting system, the two larger tool magazines and the Siemens SINUMERIK ONE control in place of the standard Heidenhain TNC 7. None of these is part of the standard machine as listed.
