Overview
The Palmary OCA-3295 is the longest CNC angular cylindrical grinder Palmary lists, with 950 mm (37.4 in) between centers. It keeps the Ø320 mm (12.6 in) swing and Ø300 mm (11.8 in) grinding diameter of the series and weighs 8,000 kg (17,637 lb).
One figure needs a second look before ordering. The table stroke is given as 1,200 mm (47.2 in), the same as on the OCA-3265. With 950 mm between centers that leaves less run-off past the ends of a full-length part than the shorter machines enjoy, which matters for dressing and for loading. Ask Palmary how the stroke is laid out relative to the centers.
The taper range narrows too: the table swivels -1° to 6° here, against -1° to 8° on the OCA-3265. For work that is essentially parallel with square shoulders, which is what an angular grinder is bought for, that is rarely a limit.
Everything at the wheel is common to the series. A Ø610 mm wheel 150 mm wide runs at 33 m/s (6,496 ft/min) on an 11 kW (14.8 hp) motor and hydro-static bearings. The wheelhead strokes 360 mm (14.2 in). Palmary says the X and Z axes move together to dress a stepped profile for multiple-step grinding. Load between centers is 150 kg (331 lb), so long parts should be slender, and 2-point and 3-point steady rests are on the option list. Control is FANUC.
