Price estimate
We do not have a price for the CHMER A6040L that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The CHMER A6040L is a CNC die sinker EDM with linear motors on all three axes. The table lists X, Y, Z Axis By Linear Motor, with travels of 600 x 400 mm (23.6 x 15.7 in) in the table axes and 350 mm (13.8 in) in Z. It is the only full linear motor sinker in CHMER's current list; the D322CL and D433CL have linear drive on Z alone.
Linear X and Y matter for orbiting and contouring. When an electrode is orbited to size a cavity, or swept along a path, the table axes reverse continuously, and a drive without screw backlash follows the commanded path more closely. On Z the benefit is fast jump motion for flushing.
In capacity the machine resembles the bridge-type CM A64C: an 800 x 500 mm (31.5 x 19.7 in) table, a 1,500 kg (3,307 lb) workpiece limit, 3,000 kg (6,614 lb) of machine weight and the DA64 dielectric tank of 635 L (168 gal). The workpiece can measure up to 1,050 x 700 x 300 mm. The electrode limit is lower, 50 kg (110 lb), in keeping with a direct-drive ram.
Generators are the 50N and 75N, built in, with maximum power inputs of 5 kVA and 6 kVA. The outline is 2,100 x 2,150 x 2,260 mm (82.7 x 84.6 x 89.0 in), and the machine needs air at 6 kgf/cm2. CHMER's page gives no feature text or accessory list for this model.

Frequently Asked Questions
01
All three. The axis drive row reads X,Y,Z Axis By Linear Motor. On the D322CL and D433CL only the Z axis is linear and X and Y use AC servo motors.
02
The maximum job load size is 1,050 x 700 x 300 mm (41.3 x 27.6 x 11.8 in) and the maximum weight 1,500 kg (3,307 lb). The work tank measures 1,200 x 740 x 450 mm and the table 800 x 500 mm.
03
Both have 600 x 400 x 350 mm travels, an 800 x 500 mm table and the DA64 dielectric tank. The A6040L has linear motors on all axes and a 50 kg (110 lb) electrode limit; the CM A64C carries a 100 kg (220 lb) electrode. Generator power input is listed at 5 kVA and 6 kVA on the A6040L.
04
Floor space for 2,100 x 2,150 x 2,260 mm (82.7 x 84.6 x 89.0 in), a floor rated for the 3,000 kg (6,614 lb) machine plus workpiece and 635 L (168 gal) of dielectric, compressed air at 6 kgf/cm2, and up to 6 kVA of power for the 75N generator.
