Campro CPL-20MC — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Campro CPL-20MC that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Campro or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

With an 8 in chuck, an 11 / 15 kW (20 HP) spindle and a VDI-40 live turret, the Campro CPL-20MC is the mid-size turning and milling center of the CPL-MC series. It turns up to 260 mm (10.2 in) in diameter and 470 mm (18.5 in) in length, and mills over 432 mm (17 in).

For most shops this is the practical size. The spindle is the A2-6, 4,200 rpm unit of the CPL-208, with a Ø52 mm (Ø2 in) hole through the draw tube, so a wide range of bar and chucked parts fits. The step from the CPL-10MC is mainly in the tooling: the larger VDI-40 holders, and a turret servo motor of 3.7 / 5.5 kW in place of the 2.2 / 3.7 kW of the CPL-10MC. Driven tools turn at up to 4,000 rpm.

What the machine does is combine operations. With the C axis indexing in 0.001° steps and every one of the 12 turret positions able to hold a rotating tool, a flange can be turned, drilled on a bolt circle and tapped without leaving the chuck. A shaft can have its keyway milled after turning, held by the tailstock, whose quill is Ø80 mm (Ø3.1 in) with 120 mm (4.7 in) of travel.

The axes are X 200 + 5 mm and Z 475 mm (18.7 in), both at 24 m/min. Campro lists linear guideways for this model and a one-piece 45° box type casting. A 10 in chuck is an option.

Weight is 4,500 kg (9,920 lb), the floor plan with chip conveyor 3,455 x 1,785 mm (136 in x 70 in), power capacity 25 kVA and coolant capacity 110 L (29 gal).

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 11 / 15 kW (20 HP) spindle with an 8 in chuck and Ø52 mm (Ø2 in) draw tube hole
  • 12-position servo live turret on VDI-40, with any position able to drive a tool
  • Turret servo motor of 3.7 / 5.5 kW and 4,000 rpm driven tools
  • C axis indexing of 0.001°
  • Tailstock with Ø80 mm (Ø3.1 in) quill for shaft work

Limitations

  • Maximum turning diameter is 260 mm (10.2 in); the 2-axis CPL-208 turns Ø400 mm (15.7 in)
  • Driven tool speed of 4,000 rpm is lower than the 5,000 rpm of the CPL-10MC
  • No Y axis or sub-spindle in the table
  • Needs 25 kVA, against 20 kVA for the CPL-208

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What are the capacities of the CPL-20MC?

Maximum turning diameter 260 mm (10.2 in), maximum turning length 470 mm (18.5 in) and maximum milling length 432 mm (17 in). Swing over the bed is 540 mm (21.2 in). X axis travel is 200 + 5 mm and Z axis travel 475 mm (18.7 in).

02 What live tooling does the CPL-20MC use?

A 12-position servo turret on the VDI-40 system. Maximum tool speed is 4,000 rpm and the turret servo motor is 3.7 / 5.5 kW. Campro says the VDI turret gives a quick change tooling solution, and tool change time is 0.2 sec.

03 What is the difference between the CPL-20MC and the CPL-208?

The CPL-208 is the 2-axis lathe with a 10-station turret and a Ø400 mm (15.7 in) maximum turning diameter. The CPL-20MC adds a C axis and a live turret, and its maximum turning diameter is 260 mm (10.2 in). Both use an A2-6 spindle at 4,200 rpm with 11 / 15 kW (20 HP).

04 What does the CPL-20MC need for installation?

A floor plan of 3,455 x 1,785 mm (136 in x 70 in) with the chip conveyor, and a 25 kVA supply. The machine weighs 4,500 kg (9,920 lb) and its coolant tank holds 110 L (29 gal).
