Campro NT-208Y — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Campro NT-208Y that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Campro or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

For shafts and chucked parts that need off-centre milling but not a second spindle, Campro builds the NT-208Y. It is an 8 in chuck box-way lathe with a Y axis of 100 (±50) mm, a 12-station BMT-55 live turret, a C axis and a tailstock.

The tailstock is what distinguishes it from the NT-208SY. Its quill is Ø80 mm (Ø3.1 in) with 120 mm (4.7 in) of travel and an MT-#4 taper, so a shaft can be supported while keyways, flats and cross holes are machined along its length. On a sub-spindle machine that support is not available.

Compared with the NT-208M, the gain is the Y axis itself. The NT-208M can only place a rotating tool on the spindle centreline and rely on the C axis. Here the tool can move across the part, which Campro describes as a real Y-axis allowing servo compensation. The cost is some turning envelope and speed: maximum turning diameter is Ø400 mm (Ø15.7 in) and turning length 520 mm (20.4 in), and X and Y rapid at 20 m/min and 10 m/min, with Z at 24 m/min.

The main spindle is the NT-208 standard: A2-6, 11 / 15 kW (20 HP), 4,200 rpm, with a Ø52 mm hole through the draw tube. Driven tools run to 5,000 rpm on a 2.2 / 3.7 kW turret servo motor, and tooling is □25 / Ø40 mm.

The Y-axis slide makes the machine tall. It measures 4,254 x 2,141 x 2,381 mm (W x D x H), weighs 4,700 kg (10,361 lb) and needs 30 kVA. The bed is the one-piece 30° slant casting with box ways that Campro uses across the M and Y models.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Y axis of 100 (±50) mm with a 12-station BMT-55 live turret
  • Tailstock with Ø80 mm (Ø3.1 in) quill for shaft support during milling
  • C axis indexing at 0.001° and driven tools to 5,000 rpm
  • Box-way one-piece 30° slant bed, per Campro
  • 11 / 15 kW (20 HP) main spindle at 4,200 rpm

Limitations

  • No sub-spindle, so the second side needs re-chucking
  • Turret servo motor of 2.2 / 3.7 kW
  • Y rapid is 10 m/min and X rapid 20 m/min
  • Maximum turning diameter of Ø400 mm (Ø15.7 in), below the Ø420 mm (Ø16.5 in) of the NT-208M
06

Best For

Shafts with keyways and flats machined between chuck and centre Chucked parts with off-centre holes and pockets Short-run mill-turn work where a sub-spindle would sit idle Parts up to 520 mm (20.4 in) long needing Y-axis features

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What does the NT-208Y add to the NT-208M?

A Y axis with 100 (±50) mm of travel. The NT-208M has a live turret and C axis only. With the Y axis the NT-208Y can mill off the centreline, at a maximum turning diameter of Ø400 mm (Ø15.7 in) and a turning length of 520 mm (20.4 in).

02 Does the NT-208Y have a tailstock or a sub-spindle?

A tailstock. The quill diameter is Ø80 mm (Ø3.1 in), the quill travel 120 mm (4.7 in) and the quill taper MT-#4. The version with a sub-spindle in place of the tailstock is the NT-208SY.

03 What live tooling does the NT-208Y carry?

A servo live turret with 12 stations and □25 / Ø40 mm (BMT-55) tooling. Maximum tool speed is 5,000 rpm and the turret servo motor is 2.2 / 3.7 kW. The C axis of the main spindle indexes in 0.001° steps.

04 How large is the NT-208Y?

The table gives 4,254 x 2,141 x 2,381 mm (167 in x 84 in x 93 in) as width, depth and height. Machine weight is 4,700 kg (10,361 lb) and power capacity 30 kVA. Rapid traverse is 20 / 10 / 24 m/min for X / Y / Z.
