How much does the Breton Matrix E2 1100 K25 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Breton Matrix E2 1100 K25 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Breton Matrix E2 1100 K25 is a 5-axis vertical gantry machining centre with a square plan: 2,500 mm (98.4 in) in X, 2,500 mm (98.4 in) in Y, and 1,100 mm (43.3 in) in Z. Breton developed the E2 for hi-feed roughing, semi-finishing and finishing of medium-large workpieces in steel, lightweight alloys and special composites, with large moulds and dies as the home ground.
Its drive concept is the first thing that separates it from the smaller Matrix E1. Where the E1 uses direct motors, the E2 moves X and Y with a Dual Drive system: two motors per axis that push in the same direction for heavy cuts and are preloaded against each other for precision work. Breton adds that the arrangement uses less energy than linear motors and needs no dedicated cooling.
The second is the ram. Z runs on 2 recirculating ball screws with double preloaded nuts and on 2 solid guides with 5 runner blocks, and the ram is no larger in section than the head, so it can follow the tool down into a cavity. In a die with steep walls that is what decides whether the bottom can be reached with a short, stiff tool.
The columns are sandwich structures in arc welded and stabilised steel. Rapids are 50 m/min (1,969 ipm) in X and Y and 40 m/min (1,575 ipm) in Z. The C axis is listed as continuous, at 30 rpm.
The version table has no spindle rows and no tool taper row. Its workbench is listed at 2,000 mm (78.7 in) by 1,000 mm (39.4 in). A longer bed is available as the Breton Matrix E2 1100 K40, with 4,000 mm (157.5 in) of X.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Square 2,500 mm (98.4 in) by 2,500 mm (98.4 in) plan with 1,100 mm (43.3 in) of Z
- Dual Drive Motors on the X and Y axes, combining thrust for roughing with preload for precision
- Ram driven by 2 recirculating ball screws and no larger than the head, for deep cavities
- C axis listed as continuous
- Sandwich structure columns in arc welded and stabilised steel for stiffness and vibration damping
Limitations
- No spindle power, torque, speed or taper in the version table
- The workbench is listed at 2,000 mm (78.7 in) by 1,000 mm (39.4 in), smaller than the travels
- Rapids of 50 m/min (1,969 ipm) are no higher than on the smaller Matrix E1
- No A axis range is printed

Frequently Asked Questions
01
X is 2,500 mm (98.4 in), Y is 2,500 mm (98.4 in) and Z is 1,100 mm (43.3 in). The head's C axis is listed as continuous with a rapid speed of 30 rpm.
02
It is Breton's two-motor axis drive, listed for the X and Y axes. For heavy-duty operations both motors deliver their maximum output in the same direction. For higher precision work the preload value is increased automatically. Breton states it has lower energy consumption than linear motors and does not require dedicated cooling systems.
03
The Breton Matrix E2 1100 K40 has 4,000 mm (157.5 in) of X travel against 2,500 mm (98.4 in) here. Y, Z, the rapid feed rates and the C axis rows are the same in both columns.
04
The version table does not list spindle power, torque or speed, and it has no taper row. Breton offers several heads and motor spindles for the Matrix E2, so the spindle is chosen at order and its ratings should be taken from the quotation.
