Price estimate
We do not have a price for the BLM Group LC5 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
One laser source and one cutting head serve two machines in the BLM Group LC5: a flat-bed sheet laser and a tube laser joined in a single system. The sheet side is built in three work areas, from 118 x 59 in (3,000 x 1,500 mm) to 236 x 79 in (6,000 x 2,000 mm). The tube side takes round tube from 0.47 in (12 mm) to 4.72 in (120 mm) in diameter and square tube up to 3.94 x 3.94 in (100 mm).
The case for a combined machine is floor space and workload. Where neither sheet nor tube volume would keep a dedicated laser busy, one source divides its time between them. BLM states that switching from sheet to tube needs no reconfiguring or retooling. The two halves are separate modules, and the tube module can be added later to a machine first installed for sheet.
On the tube side, bars from 126 in (3.2 m) long are loaded, up to a maximum of 256 in / 335 in (6.5 / 8.5 m) depending on the version. An automatic loader extracts bars from the bundle one after another; cut parts collect in a box and scrap in a separate container. Compare that with a dedicated Lasertube: the LT5.10 sorts parts into three programmable positions, which the LC5 description does not offer.
Sheet handling starts with dual shelves and automatic changeover on all three sizes, and there is a manual single-shelf solution for limited production. Pallet changers and storage towers can follow as volume grows. The fiber source is specified from 2 to 12 kW according to production requirements. Nozzle changing, cleaning and wear checking are automatic.
Footprint depends on the layout. In the transverse configuration the long side is 17.5 or 18.35 m (57 ft 4 in or 60 ft 2 in). The longitudinal configuration is 14 or 15.8 m (45 ft 11 in or 51 ft 10 in) on its long side but deeper, at 12 or 14.8 m (39 ft 4 in or 48 ft 6 in).

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- One laser source and a single cutting head cut both sheet and tube
- Three sheet work areas, up to 236 x 79 in (6,000 x 2,000 mm)
- Switching from sheet to tube needs no reconfiguring or retooling
- The tube cutting module can be added in the future
- Fiber laser source from 2 to 12 kW, chosen to suit production requirements
- Automatic nozzle change, cleaning and wear check for unmanned running
Limitations
- Round tube stops at 4.72 in (120 mm) and square tube at 3.94 x 3.94 in (100 mm), so larger sections need a dedicated Lasertube
- Sheet and tube share one source, so only one of the two is being cut at any moment
- Cut tube parts accumulate in a box instead of being sorted into programmable positions
- The long side is at least 14 m in either layout, so the system needs a large bay

Frequently Asked Questions
01
A combined laser cutting system for tube and sheet metal. It uses one laser source and a single cutting head for both processes, with a dedicated module for sheet metal cutting and a dedicated module for tube cutting. BLM says each process performs as it would on a dedicated system.
02
Three sheet work areas are listed: 118 x 59 in (3,000 x 1,500 mm), 157 x 79 in (4,000 x 2,000 mm) and 236 x 79 in (6,000 x 2,000 mm). All three come with dual shelves and automatic changeover, in both the longitudinal and the transversal machine configuration.
03
Round tubes from a minimum of 0.47 in (12 mm) to a maximum of 4.72 in (120 mm) in diameter, and square tubes from 0.47 x 0.47 in (12 mm) to 3.94 x 3.94 in (100 mm). Machinable bar length runs from 126 in (3.2 m) to 256 in / 335 in (6.5 / 8.5 m).
04
Yes, according to BLM. The LC5 integrates a sheet module and a tube module, and the tube cutting module can be added in the future as business needs change. Pallet changers and storage towers for sheet can also be added as work volumes increase.
05
It depends on the configuration. Transverse: long side 17.5 or 18.35 m (57 ft 4 in or 60 ft 2 in), short side 7.5 or 9.6 m (24 ft 7 in or 31 ft 5 in). Longitudinal: long side 14 or 15.8 m (45 ft 11 in or 51 ft 10 in), short side 12 or 14.8 m (39 ft 4 in or 48 ft 6 in).
