How much does the BLM Group LS7 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the BLM Group LS7 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Acceleration, not top speed, is the number BLM puts first on the LS7: 20 m/s² (2g) in XY. The BLM Group LS7 is a 2D fiber-laser sheet cutting system in two bed sizes, with laser power from 3 to 20 kW and a pallet change that takes 9 seconds.
Why does acceleration matter more than speed? On a nest of small parts the head rarely reaches its maximum before it has to slow for the next corner, so the time is won or lost in the changes of direction. The LS7's maximum XY speed is 5,552 ipm (140 m/min), lower than the 7,716 ipm (196 m/min) of the LS5, yet BLM publishes an acceleration figure for this model alone.
The smaller bed takes a sheet of up to 121.5 x 61.2 in (3,090 x 1,555 mm) and the larger one 162.5 x 79.5 in (4,130 x 2,020 mm). There is no 6,000 mm bed; for that length the LS5 is the sheet laser to consider.
The beam diameter changes automatically with thickness, a function BLM calls Active Zoom, for faster cuts in thin sheet and cleaner ones in thick plate. Nozzles are cleaned, changed and checked for wear by the machine. Scrap falls into boxes under the cutting area, or, by request, onto a conveyor to an external collection box that can be emptied with the laser running.
Accuracy is ±0.002 in (0.05 mm) and repeatability ±0.001 in (0.03 mm). An accessory cell can be positioned around the enclosure as the floor plan requires, and a sorting warehouse with one or two towers supports unmanned production.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Maximum XY acceleration of 20 m/s² (2g)
- Laser power from 3 to 20 kW, depending on the thickness and quality of the material
- Pallet change in 9 seconds
- Beam diameter changes automatically: faster cuts on thinner materials, cleaner cuts on thicker ones
- Nozzle cleaning, changing and wear checking are done by the machine
- Accuracy of ±0.002 in (0.05 mm) and repeatability of ±0.001 in (0.03 mm)
Limitations
- Largest sheet is 162.5 x 79.5 in (4,130 x 2,020 mm); the LS5 is the model with a 6,000 mm bed
- Maximum XY speed of 5,552 ipm (140 m/min) is below the 7,716 ipm (196 m/min) of the LS5
- The scrap conveyor to an external collection box is supplied by request, not as standard
- BLM's table gives no machine weight, footprint or electrical figures in text

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Two models are listed. The smaller takes a maximum sheet of 121.5 x 61.2 in (3,090 x 1,555 mm) and the larger 162.5 x 79.5 in (4,130 x 2,020 mm). Processable metals are mild steel, stainless steel, aluminum, copper and brass.
02
Laser power can vary from 3 to 20 kW. BLM ties the choice to the thickness and quality of the material to be cut and directs buyers to its sales office for the selection; the page shows the power against thickness relationship only as a chart.
03
Maximum XY speed is 5,552 ipm (140 m/min) and maximum XY acceleration is 20 m/s² (2g). The pallet changer takes 9 seconds to bring out the pallet with the cut parts and load a new sheet.
04
A function that changes the diameter of the laser beam to suit the thickness being cut. BLM's description is that the machine does this automatically, giving faster cuts on thinner materials and cleaner cuts on thicker ones.
05
In the basic arrangement, metal scrap is taken out in special boxes underneath the cutting area. By request, for intensive production, scrap can be conveyed to an external collection box and extracted without switching off the laser.
