BLM Group LT12 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the BLM Group LT12 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from BLM Group or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The BLM Group LT12 takes the Lasertube range into structural sizes. It processes tube up to 12" in diameter, which BLM also gives as 305 mm, and profiles up to 41.6 lb/ft, using a Tube Cutter 3D head and a fiber source of 3, 4 or 5 kW.

At this size the loading method changes. Smaller Lasertubes feed from bundles. The LT12 has a front chain loader on which profiles of different sections and lengths can be placed freely, and a front chain unloader that houses a dedicated belt for short parts. Both are fully automatic. Loading length is 28 ft - 41 ft (8.5 m - 12.5 m), unloading length 21 ft - 28 ft - 41 ft (6.4 m - 8.5 m - 12.5 m), and the shortest bar handled automatically is 8 ft (2.4 m).

Heavy tube is costly to waste, so the two scrap figures deserve attention. In scrap efficiency mode the spindle fits into the chuck to cut the bar end, and the remnant is 113 mm (4.4 in). Without the mode it is 260 mm (10.2 in). Repeated on every bar of a shift, the gap between those two lengths is real material.

Two functions widen what leaves the machine finished. Drill & Tap performs drilling and tapping alongside laser cutting, so threaded holes need no second machine. Active Scan compensates for deformations in the tube. For heavier sections than this model accepts, the LT14 FIBER carries 67 lbs/ft.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Processes tube up to 12" in diameter and profiles up to 41.6 lb/ft
  • Fiber laser sources of 3, 4 or 5 kW with a Tube Cutter 3D head
  • Scrap efficiency mode cuts the bar-end remnant to 113 mm (4.4 in)
  • Chain loader and unloader configurable up to 41 ft, with a dedicated belt for short parts
  • Drill & Tap performs laser cutting, drilling and tapping within the same machine

Limitations

  • Without scrap efficiency mode, the minimum scrap is 260 mm (10.2 in) per bar
  • Bars shorter than 8 ft (2.4 m) are not loaded automatically
  • A 41 ft loader in line with a 41 ft unloader makes for a long installation
  • The table gives no machine weight, installed power or drawn power, so those must be requested

Best For

Structural tube and profiles up to 12" in diameter Heavy sections up to 41.6 lb/ft that need bevelled 3D cuts Parts with threaded holes, finished in one machine with Drill & Tap Long bars, with loading lengths of 28 ft or 41 ft

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the largest tube the LT12 can cut?

BLM states tube processing up to 12" in diameter, and elsewhere on its page gives the limit as 305 mm in diameter. Tubes and profiles can weigh up to 41.6 lb/ft. Round, square and rectangular tubes, special sections and open profiles are all listed.

02 How much scrap is left at the end of a bar on the LT12?

With scrap efficiency mode, 113 mm (4.4 in): the spindle fits into the chuck so the head can cut the bar end. Without scrap efficiency mode, the minimum scrap is 260 mm (10.2 in).

03 Which laser sources are available for the LT12?

Fiber sources of 3, 4 or 5 kW. The cutting head is the Tube Cutter 3D, so the machine makes tilted cuts as well as perpendicular ones. BLM lists mild steel, stainless steel, aluminum, copper and brass as machinable materials.

04 What is Drill & Tap on the LT12?

A function that performs drilling and tapping within the same machine as the laser cutting. BLM presents it as a way to erase the waiting time between production steps, since threaded holes no longer require the part to move to a separate operation.

05 How long are the LT12 loader and unloader?

The table gives a loading length of 28 ft - 41 ft (8.5 m - 12.5 m) and an unloading length of 21 ft - 28 ft - 41 ft (6.4 m - 8.5 m - 12.5 m). Both are front chain units and both run fully automatically. The minimum automatic loadable length is 8 ft (2.4 m).
