How much does the Biglia BMX 45Y2 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Biglia BMX 45Y2 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Biglia BMX 45Y2 is a compact bar machine with two spindles, two turrets and a Y-axis on each turret, which Biglia counts as ten axes in all. Bar capacity is 45 mm (1.8 in), maximum machining diameter 100 mm and maximum machining length 180 mm (7.1 in). It is made for small, complicated parts that are dropped off complete.
Both spindles are the same: liquid-cooled integral motor spindles running to 6,000 rpm with 11 kW and 95 Nm, a 55 mm bore and a 46 mm drawtube. Neither end of the part is the weak one, which makes it easier to split the operations evenly and shorten the cycle.
Each turret has 12 stations, all of them able to drive a tool, and Biglia states that up to 30 tools can work at once when multiple holders are used. Live tools are rated 2.2 / 4.6 kW and 22 Nm at 6,000 rpm. The turret strokes are short, as the parts are: 110 mm on X1 and X2, 350 mm on Z1 and Z2 and 60 mm on Y1 and Y2, split 30 mm either side of centre.
The detail that defines the machine is the sub-spindle slide. Besides its 390 mm Z3 stroke the sub-spindle moves 170 mm crosswise on X3, 85 mm to each side, so it can step away from the main spindle axis. Biglia lists three gains: the turrets no longer get in each other's way, three tools can cut together using the Superimposition function, and the sub-spindle can act as a tailstock while both turrets work on the main side.
Control is a Mitsubishi M830VS. The machine weighs 6,000 kg with swarf conveyor.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Two identical spindles: 6,000 rpm, 11 kW and 95 Nm on both main and sub
- Two 12-station turrets, each with its own Y-axis and live tooling on every position
- Sub-spindle with X3 offset of 170 mm as well as 390 mm of Z3, which Biglia says removes turret interference
- Scales on the X1 and X2 axes, bar-feeder interface, parts-catcher and finished parts conveyor are standard features
- Rapids of 30 m/min on the Z axes and 15 m/min on X and Y
Limitations
- Parts are limited to 45 mm bar, 100 mm in diameter and 180 mm in length
- Live tool torque is 22 Nm and power 2.2 / 4.6 kW, so milling is light
- Y travel is 60 mm in total, 30 mm either side of centre
- Standard coolant pressure is 7 bar; the 40 bar high-pressure pump is an option

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Biglia lists a bar capacity of 45 mm, a maximum machining diameter of 100 mm, a maximum machining length of 180 mm and a swing over diameter of 140 mm. The automatic parts-catcher unloads finished parts up to 180 mm long. Chuck diameter is given as 110 mm.
02
The sub-spindle has an X3 axis with 170 mm of stroke, 85 mm to each side, in addition to its 390 mm Z3 stroke. Offsetting it from the main spindle keeps the two turrets clear of each other, lets three tools cut at once through the Superimposition function, and allows the sub-spindle to hold the part like a tailstock while turret 1 and turret 2 both work on it.
03
Two Biglia servo turrets with 12 stations each, upper turret 1 and lower turret 2. Every position can take a live tool, and the brochure says up to 30 tools can work simultaneously. Indexing takes 0.15 sec for one position. Rotary tools run to 6,000 rpm with 22 Nm.
04
The brochure names the CNC unit as a Mitsubishi M830VS with a 15" colour touch screen, a keyboard and a Biglia operator panel with softkeys. Data moves by USB, Ethernet, memory card or RS232. The brochure also lists SSS Control, Nano Interpolation and OMR Control among the functions of this CNC.
05
As an option. Biglia offers a support with a rotating centre that mounts on the sub-spindle, so the sub-spindle serves as a regular tailstock for small shafts. Without it, the sub-spindle can still grip the far end of a part while the turrets cut.
