How much does the AWEA MVP-5040 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the AWEA MVP-5040 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The AWEA MVP-5040 pairs 5,000 mm (196.9 in) of X travel with 4,000 mm (157.5 in) of Y on a cross rail that moves up and down, and the vertical side of the machine is the part of the specification that most often decides whether a job fits.
Start with daylight. The spindle nose can sit anywhere from 200 ~ 2,450 mm (7.9 ~ 96.5 in) above the table. Two axes produce that range. W raises and lowers the whole cross rail through 1,250 mm (49.2 in) at 3 m/min (118 ipm); Z moves the ram 1,000 mm (39.4 in) at 10 m/min (394 ipm). Longer rams of 1,200 and 1,400 mm are optional. In practice the rail is parked just above the work and locked, and Z does the cutting, which keeps the ram short and stiff for the cut in hand.
AWEA guides the Z axis on THK NR75 linear guide ways and places the spindle, its motor, the Z ball screw, twin hydraulic cylinders and the gear box symmetrically, with the stated aim of limiting thermal growth and unbalanced torque. Tool unclamping uses a floating design so that the release force does not pass through the spindle bearings.
On the floor, the table is 5,020 x 3,010 mm (197.6 x 118.5 in) and rated for 18,000 kg (39,683 lb), with 3,500 mm (137.8 in) between the columns. X and Y both rapid at 10 m/min (394 ipm). The machine weighs 83,500 kg (184,083 lb); the narrower MVP-5032 is 75,000 kg (165,344 lb).

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Spindle nose to table distance of 200 ~ 2,450 mm (7.9 ~ 96.5 in) from the combined W and Z axes
- Z axis on THK NR75 linear guide ways, with 1,200 and 1,400 mm strokes available
- Symmetrical layout of spindle, motor, Z ball screw, hydraulic cylinders and gear box to limit thermal expansion
- 18,000 kg (39,683 lb) on a 5,020 x 3,010 mm (197.6 x 118.5 in) table
- Floating unclamping design keeps tool-release force off the spindle bearings
Limitations
- Cross rail moves at 3 m/min (118 ipm), so W is a setup axis more than a cutting axis
- X rapid of 10 m/min (394 ipm), slower than the 15 m/min (591 ipm) MVP-4040
- At 83,500 kg (184,083 lb) it outweighs the longer but narrower MVP-6032 at 80,000 kg (176,367 lb)
- No damping mechanism on the X ball screw, which AWEA reserves for 6 m travel and above

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The table gives 200 ~ 2,450 mm (7.9 ~ 96.5 in) from spindle nose to table. Part height, fixture height and tool length all have to fit inside that range. The 1,250 mm (49.2 in) W-axis travel of the cross rail and the 1,000 mm (39.4 in) Z travel together provide it; a 1,200 or 1,400 mm Z axis is optional.
02
AWEA states the cross rail movement is balanced with a double hydraulic cylinder and can be locked in any position using 6 pcs. of hydraulic locking mechanism. The W axis runs on box ways, which the maker chose for vibration damping. The hydraulic tank holds 290 L.
03
Y travel is 4,000 mm (157.5 in) where the MVP-5032 has 3,200 mm (126.0 in), the table is 3,010 mm (118.5 in) wide instead of 2,400 mm (94.5 in), and the column gap is 3,500 mm (137.8 in) instead of 2,700 mm (106.3 in). Y rapid is 10 m/min (394 ipm) against 12 m/min (472 ipm) on the MVP-5032, and the coolant tank is 1,200 L against 750 L. Table load is 18,000 kg (39,683 lb) on both.
04
10 ~ 4,000 rpm with the spindle vertical and 20 ~ 3,000 rpm through the horizontal head, with a 22 / 26 kW (30 / 35 HP) motor and a BT 50 taper. The standard drive is a 2-step auto-exchange gear transmission. Coolant through spindle is available as an option.
05
Positioning accuracy is listed as ± 0.010 mm over full travel under JIS and P = 0.030 mm over full travel under VDI. Repeatability is ± 0.003 mm and P = 0.022 mm under the same two standards.
