How much does the AWEA LP-3016 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the AWEA LP-3016 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Three AWEA bridge machines share roughly one envelope, and the AWEA LP-3016 is the heaviest of them at 28,500 kg (62,831 lb). Its travels are 3,000 mm (118.1 in) in X, 1,600 mm (63.0 in) in Y and 760 mm (29.9 in) in Z, over a 3,260 x 1,500 mm (128.3 x 59.1 in) table rated for 10,000 kg (22,046 lb).
The VP-3016 weighs 24,000 kg (52,910 lb), and its 3,000 x 1,500 mm table is rated for 7,000 kg (15,432 lb). The SP-3016 weighs 23,500 kg (51,808 lb) and has the same table size and the same 10,000 kg rating as the LP-3016. Against the SP, then, the LP adds mass and not capacity on paper.
Where does that mass go? AWEA's LP pages point to three places. The base is one piece with 4 guide ways and is enlarged in proportion to the travel so the table does not overhang. The Y-axis guide ways on the cross beam are offset from each other, which brings the spindle closer to the beam. In the head, the spindle, its motor, the ball screw and the hydraulic counter weight cylinders are placed symmetrically. For a shop that roughs steel with large BT50 cutters all day, that is the case for choosing the LP.
Note that the table is longer than the stroke: 3,260 mm of table against 3,000 mm of X. A part that fills the table cannot be reached end to end in one clamping. Rapids are 20,000 mm/min (787 ipm) in X and Y and 15,000 mm/min (591 ipm) in Z.
AWEA also says the LP series can be equipped with an automatic head changer and a vertical / horizontal ATC to work as a 5-face machining center. Those machines are listed as separate models; the LP-3016YF, for one, has 1,900 mm (74.8 in) of Y travel and weighs 29,000 kg (63,933 lb).

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 28,500 kg (62,831 lb) machine weight, above the 23,500 kg (51,808 lb) of the SP-3016 with the same table
- 10,000 kg (22,046 lb) table load, against 7,000 kg (15,432 lb) on the VP-3016
- X and Y both rapid at 20,000 mm/min (787 ipm) despite the 3,000 mm (118.1 in) stroke
- Symmetrical head layout and offset Y-axis guide ways that keep the spindle close to the cross beam
- Tool weight limit of 20 kg (44 lb), where the VP-3016 allows 15 kg (33 lb)
Limitations
- The 3,260 mm table is longer than the 3,000 mm X travel, so its full length is not within reach of the spindle
- Y rapid of 20,000 mm/min (787 ipm) is below the 24 m/min (945 ipm) of the VP-3016
- A single 6,000 rpm spindle is listed, with no faster option in this model's table
- Side faces need a second setup; the 5-face configuration is a different model, the LP-3016YF

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The LP-3016, at 28,500 kg (62,831 lb). The SP-3016 weighs 23,500 kg (51,808 lb) and matches the LP on table size and on the 10,000 kg (22,046 lb) load, with 3,060 mm (120.5 in) of X. The VP-3016 weighs 24,000 kg (52,910 lb), carries 7,000 kg (15,432 lb) and has faster Y and Z rapids of 24 m/min (945 ipm) and 20 m/min (787 ipm).
02
No. The table is 3,260 mm (128.3 in) long and X travel is 3,000 mm (118.1 in), so the spindle centre does not reach both ends. Across the table the situation is reversed: Y travel is 1,600 mm (63.0 in) over a 1,500 mm width, which lets a cutter run off both edges.
03
AWEA states that the LP series can be equipped with an automatic head changer and a vertical / horizontal ATC system, which turns it into a 5-face machining center. Those configurations carry their own model names and spec tables. The LP-3016YF has the same 3,260 x 1,500 mm table and 1,900 mm (74.8 in) of Y travel.
