Price estimate
We do not have a price for the AWEA AT-510 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The AWEA AT-510 is a BT 30 drilling and tapping center with travels of 510 mm (20.1 in) in X, 400 mm (15.7 in) in Y and 330 mm (13.0 in) in Z. It is the only 30-taper machine in AWEA's listing and by far the smallest: 2,000 kg (4,409 lb), on a floor area of 1,520 x 2,180 mm according to the dimension row, with a 15 kVA supply.
Everything about it is tuned for short cycles on small parts. The direct drive spindle runs at 12,000 rpm on a 3.7 / 5.5 kW (5.0 / 7.4 hp) motor, and AWEA offers 15,000 and 20,000 rpm versions. All three axes ride on roller type linear guide ways. AWEA states an X and Y feed rate of up to 50 m/min, with 60 m/min available as an option; the specification table prints the rapid figures without a unit, so the statement in the maker's text is the one to rely on. Cutting feed is 20 m/min (787 ipm).
The tool changer holds 14 tools and uses a synchronous unclamping design that picks the shortest path between pockets. Tool limits are small, as expected at this taper: 3 kg (7 lb), 200 mm (7.9 in) long, Ø90 mm with neighbours in place. The table is 610 x 400 mm (24.0 x 15.7 in) and carries 250 kg (551 lb).
Three controls are listed: FANUC Oi -MD, MITSUBISHI M-70 and SIEMENS 828D. Chips are washed out by a high pressure water jet system into a rear chip collector, and both the collector and the coolant tank detach for cleaning. The tank holds 160 liter.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Direct drive 12,000 rpm BT 30 spindle, with 15,000 and 20,000 rpm versions offered
- X and Y feed up to 50 m/min on roller type linear guide ways, 60 m/min optional
- Small installation: 2,000 kg (4,409 lb) and 15 kVA
- Choice of FANUC Oi -MD, MITSUBISHI M-70 or SIEMENS 828D control
- Positioning accuracy of ± 0.003 mm / 300 mm and repeatability of ± 0.002 mm to JIS standards
Limitations
- Only 14 tool pockets in the magazine
- Tools limited to 3 kg (7 lb) and 200 mm (7.9 in) in length
- Spindle motor of 3.7 / 5.5 kW (5.0 / 7.4 hp) rules out heavy milling
- Z travel of 330 mm (13.0 in) and a 250 kg (551 lb) table load restrict part and fixture height
- The specification table gives the rapid feed row without a unit

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Travels are 510 mm (20.1 in) in X, 400 mm (15.7 in) in Y and 330 mm (13.0 in) in Z. The table is 610 x 400 mm (24.0 x 15.7 in) with a load capacity of 250 kg (551 lb). The machine measures 1,520 x 2,180 x 2,770 mm (59.8 x 85.8 x 109.1 in) and weighs 2,000 kg (4,409 lb).
02
The table lists 12,000 rpm with a BT 30 taper and a 3.7 / 5.5 kW (5.0 / 7.4 hp) motor. AWEA states that the direct drive spindle is offered at 12,000 / 15,000 / 20,000 rpm. The maker says the direct drive layout blocks motor heat to reduce thermal deformation.
03
14. The synchronous unclamping type tool changer calculates the shortest tool change path. Tools can be up to 200 mm (7.9 in) long from the gauge line and 3 kg (7 lb); maximum diameter is Ø90 mm, or Ø150 mm with adjacent pockets empty.
04
AWEA lists FANUC Oi -MD, MITSUBISHI M-70 and SIEMENS 828D. Whichever is chosen, the three axes are driven by absolute servo motors coupled directly to the screws, according to the maker's description.
05
A high pressure water jet chip removal system clears the working zone, and a large chip trough carries chips to a collector at the back of the machine. The chip collector and the 160 liter coolant tank are detachable for maintenance. A chips flush coolant system is an option.
