Citizen Miyano LZ-01

The Citizen Miyano LZ-01 is a compact fixed-headstock CNC lathe for small chucked parts: 70 mm maximum turning diameter in its 6-inch hydraulic power chuck, 50 mm maximum in a collet chuck and 80 mm maximum machining length, with a 60 - 6,000 rpm spindle on a 7.5/5.5 kW motor. Citizen no longer lists the LZ-01 under that name; the table shown is the LZ-01R2 column of the LZ-01R series page.

The layout is unusual. The X and Z strokes in the table, 245 mm and 240 mm, are given for the main spindle slide, which means the spindle travels to the tools rather than a turret slide travelling to the part. A 12-station turret holds 20 mm square turning tools and 25 mm diameter boring holders, and up to 6 of the stations can carry revolving tools for cross drilling and milled features.

The work-size rows show what the machine is for. The maximum work weight is 0.7 kg × 2 and the maximum work size 70 mm in diameter, which points to light, short parts such as small flanges, bushes and fittings in quantity. On those, a 6,000 rpm spindle keeps surface speed up on the smaller diameters, and the 7.5/5.5 kW motor is ample for the cuts a 70 mm part allows.

For installation, the LZ-01 needs 2,100×1,555 mm of floor, stands 1,680 mm high and weighs approx. 4,000 kg, a lot of machine for a 70 mm part, so check floor loading before delivery. The control is a Mitsubishi M80.
