Overview
The Accuway UT-100EM is the smallest live-tool lathe on Accuway's site that is sold without a loader. It weighs 1,800 kg (3,968 lb), holds a 6 in chuck, and drives rotary tools at 6,000 rpm with 3.7/5.5 kW (5.0/7.4 hp).
Its turret is described in full: 12 stations, BMT/VDI tooling, servo drive. Fitting it costs turning envelope, as on every small live-tool lathe. Maximum turning diameter is 100 mm (3.9 in) and turning length 140 mm (5.5 in), compared with 180 mm (7.1 in) and 175 mm (6.9 in) on the UT-100E. For a machine whose bar capacity is 30 mm (1.2 in), those limits are rarely reached in bar work.
Bar work is the natural use. A bar feeder, its interface and a parts catcher with conveyor are all on the options list, and with rotary tools the part can be cross-drilled, slotted or given flats before cut-off. Each part drops complete on one side. The second side, if it needs work, is another operation, because there is one spindle and no Y axis.
The main spindle is rated 5.5/7.5 kW (7.4/10.1 hp), not far above the rotary tool motor, a balance that reflects how small the turning work is. The option list on this page does not mention rotary tool holders, so ask what is supplied with the turret. Dimensions are 1.7 x 1.8 x 1.8 m (66.9 x 70.9 x 70.9 in).
