Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Huron DX 500-2000 C that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Huron DX 500-2000 C is the heaviest-duty machine on the DX 500 frame: a two-metre bed, a 180 mm spindle bore and 45/30 kW from the Siemens motor, or 37/30 kW from Fanuc. Turning capacity is 800 mm (31.5 in) by 2,000 mm.
Long pipe is the clearest application. With 2,000 mm between chuck and tailstock and a bore of 180 mm behind the chuck, tubulars can be supported at both ends or passed through for end work. Drill pipe, casing joints and long hollow rolls fit that description.
The A2-15 spindle turns at 50-1,200 rpm. As on the other C models, Huron's table gives the maximum bar capacity as 90 mm, which does not follow from the bore and needs clarifying before the machine is specified for bar work.
Beyond the headstock the machine matches its A and B siblings. Weight is 12,500 kg (27,557 lb), X travel 410 mm, standard turning diameter 600 mm. The turret has 8 stations for 32 x 32 mm tools. The tailstock gives up to 1,000 kgf from a 130 mm quill. Z positioning is 0.02 mm and X positioning 0.01 mm. The machine measures 6,930 mm by 2,940 mm and is 2,250 mm high. A live-tool turret is available as an option.

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The spindle. The C has an A2-15 nose, a 180 mm bore and 37/30 kW on Fanuc or 45/30 kW on Siemens, at 50-1,200 rpm. Bed, travels, turret, tailstock and the 12,500 kg weight are common to all three.
02
Parts up to 800 mm in diameter and 2,000 mm in length, with a 600 mm standard turning diameter and an 825 mm swing over the bed.
03
Huron's table lists a maximum bar capacity of 90 mm against a spindle bore of 180 mm. The same 90 mm is given for the B spindle, so check with Huron what limits it on the C.
04
Positioning of 0.01/0.02 mm and repeatability of 0.005/0.008 mm for the X and Z axes respectively. The Z figures are the looser pair.
