Overview
Two 15 in chucks on two equal spindles: the Accuway UA-250 applies the twin-spindle, twin-turret layout to large parts. Both spindles have an A2-11 nose, a 116 mm (4.6 in) bar capacity, 2,500 rpm and a 15/18.5 kW (20.1/24.8 hp) motor.
Equal spindles matter. On most two-spindle lathes the second spindle is smaller and weaker, so the heavy cuts have to be planned onto the first side. Here either side can take the roughing, and a part can be split between the spindles purely by cycle time. Turning diameter is 360 mm (14.2 in) at SP1 and at SP2, and the turning length is 400 mm (15.7 in).
Each spindle has its own turret, 12+12 stations in all, with BMT-55N tooling and servo mechanical drive. Travels are 210 mm (8.3 in) in X1/X2 and 500 mm (19.7 in) in Z1/Z2. The B axis moves the second spindle 1,200 mm (47.2 in). Its rapid row reads 10 m/min (394 in/min) with 24 m/min (945 in/min) in brackets, and the Z1/Z2 row 20 m/min (787 in/min) with the same bracketed figure; which applies to a given machine should be settled in the quotation.
The table has no rotary tool rows and no Y axis, although Accuway's heading calls the machine a multi-axis complex turning-milling center. No accessory lists are published. The UA-250 weighs 9,000 kg (19,841 lb) and measures 5.7 x 2.2 x 2.4 m (224.4 x 86.6 x 94.5 in).
