Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Weingärtner mpmc 1800 L that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Weingärtner mpmc 1800 L puts 1,800 mm (70.9 in) of swing over bed and slide on mid-range ratings. Between chuck and tailstock it is listed at 8,000 / 16,000 kg (17,637 / 35,273 lb), the spindle nose is A15 or A20 to DIN 55026, and tooling is C6, C8 or HSK100. Those are the ratings of the mpmc 1000 S, a machine with 1,000 mm (39.4 in) of swing.
Its horizontal slide follows the pattern of the other L models. Y is printed as -725 / +475 mm (-28.5 / +18.7 in): a long stroke to the minus side, a shorter one to the plus side, and no bracketed figure. On a part this wide, that decides which features can be milled without turning the workpiece, so lay the drawing over the stroke early.
For X, the table here carries a single travel figure, 100 mm (3.9 in) below the workpiece center. Total vertical travel is not listed on this page and should come from Weingärtner together with the bed length. Rapid feed is 25 m/min (984 ipm) on X and Y and 40 m/min (1,575 ipm) on Z, and the B axis swivels ±110°.
Heavier work of similar diameter goes the other way. The mpmc 1400 S has less swing, 1,400 mm (55.1 in), but C10 or HSK125 tooling and a rating of up to 60,000 kg (132,275 lb). Where the part is wide and comparatively light, the mpmc 1800 L keeps the faster Z axis and the smaller tool interface. SINUMERIK ONE is the control.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 1,800 mm (70.9 in) of swing over bed and slide with C6, C8 or HSK100 tooling
- Y stroke of 725 mm (28.5 in) to the minus side of the workpiece axis
- Z rapid of 40 m/min (1,575 ipm), faster than the 30 m/min (1,181 ipm) of the mpmc 2000 L/S
- A15 or A20 spindle nose to DIN 55026
- Integrated counter-spindle system described for the series, for complete machining in one setup
Limitations
- Weight between chuck and tailstock ends at 16,000 kg (35,273 lb) despite the large swing
- Total X travel is not given in this page's table and has to be confirmed with the maker
- Y travel to the plus side is 475 mm (18.7 in), shorter than the 725 mm on the minus side
- No C10 or HSK125 option; those belong to the mpmc 1400 S and larger

Frequently Asked Questions
01
This page lists only the portion below the workpiece center, 100 mm (3.9 in), and the X rapid of 25 m/min (984 ipm). A total vertical travel is not stated here, so ask Weingärtner for it when the bed length is being fixed. The maker tailors dimensions and lengths to each customer in any case.
02
The mpmc 2000 L/S is a heavier class of machine: 2,000 mm (78.7 in) of swing, C10 or HSK125 tooling, an A20 or A28 nose and weights up to 60,000 kg (132,275 lb), with rapids of 20 m/min (787 ipm) on X and Y. This model has 1,800 mm (70.9 in) of swing, stops at 16,000 kg (35,273 lb) and runs 25 m/min (984 ipm) on X and Y.
03
Weingärtner's table gives the row as -725 / +475 mm and does not explain it. The same uneven shape appears on the mpmc 1200 L and the mpmc 2800 L, while the S and L/S columns show even strokes. In practice the slide reaches 725 mm (28.5 in) across the workpiece axis in one direction and 475 mm (18.7 in) in the other.
04
For the mpmc series Weingärtner describes an integrated soft-landing system with prismatic support pads for controlled loading and unloading of large and heavy workpieces such as work rollers. Workpiece handling can also be automated by linking the machine to an external delivery feeder system. Which of these a machine gets is part of the order.
