YCM TV188B — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the YCM TV188B that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from YCM or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

Take the TV158B, lengthen the X axis, and the result is the YCM TV188B: a 50-taper vertical machining center with travels of 1,800 mm (70.87 in) in X, 860 mm (33.86 in) in Y and 750 mm (29.53 in) in Z. The table lengthens to 2,000 x 860 mm (78.74 x 33.86 in) and the machine weight to 20,500 kg (45,194 lb).

One figure does not grow. Table load stays at 2,000 kg (4,409 lb), the same as on the shorter machine, so the extra length is for longer parts, not heavier ones. On a T-base machine this matters less than on a conventional C-frame, because the saddle supports the table along its full stroke and a long part does not tip an overhanging table end.

A two-metre table also lends itself to pendulum-style work: a fixture at each end, with the operator changing parts at one end while the spindle works at the other. The enclosure and guarding decide whether that is practical, so raise it with YCM if it is the plan.

Elsewhere the model follows the series. Square guideways with Turcite-B coating, rapids of 15 m/min (591 ipm) in X and Y and 12 m/min (472 ipm) in Z, a BT50 gearhead spindle at 6,000 rpm with 25 kW (33.5 HP), an optional 10,000 rpm spindle with 45 kW (60.4 HP), and magazines for 24, 32 or 40 tools. Spindle nose to table is listed as 150~900 mm, with 400~1,150 mm in brackets.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • X travel of 1,800 mm (70.87 in) on a fully supported T-base table
  • 2,000 x 860 mm (78.74 x 33.86 in) table
  • 860 mm (33.86 in) of Y travel for wide parts
  • BT50 gearhead spindle with a 45 kW (60.4 HP) option
  • Square guideways with Turcite-B coating for damping in heavy cuts

Limitations

  • Table load stays at 2,000 kg (4,409 lb) despite the longer table
  • Machine weight is 20,500 kg (45,194 lb)
  • Rapids of 15 m/min (591 ipm) make long X moves slow
  • Cutting feed is limited to 5,000 mm/min (196.9 ipm)

Best For

Long steel parts and plates up to 1,800 mm (70.87 in) Two fixtures on one table, loaded alternately Heavy milling where table support over the full stroke matters

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the difference between the TV188B and the TV158B?

X travel and table length. The TV188B has 1,800 mm (70.87 in) of X and a 2,000 x 860 mm (78.74 x 33.86 in) table; the TV158B has 1,500 mm (59.06 in) and a 1,700 x 860 mm (66.93 x 33.86 in) table. Both are rated for 2,000 kg (4,409 lb).

02 How heavy is the TV188B?

The machine weighs 20,500 kg (45,194 lb). The TV158B, with the same Y and Z travels, weighs 18,000 kg (39,683 lb). Foundation and rigging should be planned for a machine of over twenty tonnes.

03 What spindle options are listed?

Standard is a BT50 gearhead spindle at 6,000 rpm, with 25 kW (33.5 HP) in the table. The options are a 10,000 rpm spindle, 45 kW (60.4 HP) and a BBT50 taper. The quill type spindle housing has a cooling system.

04 How much room is there under the spindle?

Z travel is 750 mm (29.53 in). The spindle nose to table distance is listed as 150~900 mm, with a second range of 400~1,150 mm printed in brackets; the page does not explain which configuration the bracketed range describes.
