Price estimate
We do not have a price for the YCM TC-46/1000 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The YCM TC-46/1000 is the short-bed member of YCM's heaviest lathe family. It turns ø750 mm (ø29.53 in) over a length of 1,000 mm (39.37 in), with a 15" chuck on an A2-11 spindle nose and a 30/37 kW (40/50 HP) gearhead spindle.
A short bed under a large swing is the layout for discs, not shafts: wheel hubs, flanges, bearing housings, valve bodies and rings that are wide and heavy but not long. YCM lists a 4 speed gearhead for heavy duty machining, a front spindle bearing with a ø180 mm bore and an oil-cooled chiller for the headstock. Speed depends on the chuck fitted: 1,800 rpm with the 15" chuck, 1,600 rpm with 18" and 1,200 rpm with 21".
The spindle bore is ø130 mm (ø5.12 in), ø117 mm (ø4.61 in) through the draw bar. For pipe and oil-field work YCM offers a big-bore A2-15 spindle with a ø182 mm through hole as an option.
The bed is a 45 degree slant casting with a torque tube, box ways and 620mm between the Z guideways. A hydraulic balance cylinder carries the X slide, and a brake stops the turret dropping. The servo turret has 10 stations, or 12 as an option, indexes in 0.9 sec. and clamps on a 3-piece curvic coupling. The programmable tailstock has an MT-5 quill with 825 mm (32.48 in) of stroke. Rapids are 16 m/min (629.92 ipm) in X and 18 m/min (708.66 ipm) in Z, and the machine weighs 12,500 kg (27,558 lb).

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- ø750 mm (ø29.53 in) turning diameter on a compact 1,000 mm (39.37 in) bed
- 30/37 kW (40/50 HP) 4 speed gearhead spindle with oil-cooled chiller
- ø130 mm (ø5.12 in) spindle bore, with a ø182 mm big-bore option
- Servo turret indexing in 0.9 sec.
- Box way slant bed with 620mm between the Z guideways
Limitations
- Spindle speed is 1,800 rpm at most, less with the larger chucks
- Turning length is 1,000 mm (39.37 in); longer shafts need another bed length
- Standard turret has 10 stations
- Weighs 12,500 kg (27,558 lb)

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The standard chuck is 15" with 18" and 21" as listed alternatives. Spindle speed is 1,800 rpm with the 15" chuck, 1,600 rpm with the 18" and 1,200 rpm with the 21". The spindle nose is A2-11.
02
The hole through the spindle is ø130 mm (ø5.12 in) and the hole through the draw bar is ø117 mm (ø4.61 in). An optional big-bore design uses an A2-15 spindle with a ø182 mm through hole.
03
Four two-axis machines share the ø750 mm (ø29.53 in) turning diameter. The TC-46/1650 turns 1,650 mm (64.96 in), the TC-46/2300 turns 2,300 mm (90.55 in) and the TC-46/3200 turns 3,200 mm (125.98 in). This model turns 1,000 mm (39.37 in).
04
A servo turret with hydraulic clamping, 10 stations as standard and 12 as an option. YCM gives the indexing time as 0.9 sec. and describes a large 3-piece curvic coupling for heavy cutting.
