Overview

The beam is the part of the Vision Wide MN-5023 / MN-5030 that the maker singles out: a solid beam with a big cross-section and roller ways, which it says strengthens the stiffness of the Y-travel.

On a five-face machine the beam is loaded in more ways than on a plain vertical one. With an angle head fitted, the cut pushes sideways and along the beam as well as upward, and the head hangs lower and further out. A beam that resists only bending would twist. A large solid section resists both, and the roller ways along it give the saddle a stiff seat wherever it stands on the Y stroke. That stroke is 2,300 mm (90.6 in) on the MN-5023 and 3,000 mm (118.1 in) on the MN-5030.

Under the beam is a 5,000×2,050 mm (196.9×80.7 in) table that takes 20,000 kg (44,092 lb). X travel is 5,100 mm (200.8 in).

Speed drops with length, as on every machine of this kind. X/Y rapid is 12.5 m/min here. Cutting feed is still 1-10,000 mm/min.

Three motor ratings are listed: 18.5/22 kW (24.8/29.5 hp) as standard, 22/26 kW (29.5/34.9 hp) and 30/37 kW (40.2/49.6 hp) as options. For side milling with a long head the largest is worth considering.
