Overview

Both screws of the Vision Wide MHN-5040 / MHN-5047 are held along their length. Vision Wide describes an XY-axis precision supporter mechanism that prevents ball screw sag, enhances positioning accuracy and ensures ball screw lifetime, applied where X-axis travel exceeds 4m and Y-axis travel exceeds 3m.

Every MHN meets both conditions, and this pair does so by a wide margin: 5,100 mm (200.8 in) of X and 4,000 mm (157.5 in) or 4,700 mm (185.0 in) of Y. A Y screw nearly five metres long, slung across a beam, would droop visibly without support. The droop is not just a wear problem. The nut rides up and down the sag as it travels, and that shows as a small periodic error in position.

The maker's mention of lifetime is fair as well. A sagging screw bends once per revolution, and that fatigue loading is what eventually ends its life.

The table is 5,000×3,500 mm (196.9×137.8 in) for 24,000 kg (52,910 lb). X/Y rapid is 10 m/min and cutting feed 1-7,000 mm/min. Z rapid is 15 m/min on the standard box way head. The spindle is geared, 4,000 rpm, on 22/26 kW (29.5/34.9 hp). XYZ-axis linear scale feedback is an option.

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How are the ball screws supported on the Vision Wide MHN-5040?

By an XY-axis precision supporter mechanism, which the maker says prevents ball screw sag, enhances positioning accuracy and ensures ball screw lifetime. It applies where X travel exceeds 4m and Y travel exceeds 3m.

02 What are the MHN-5040 / MHN-5047 table and travels?

Table 5,000×3,500 mm (196.9×137.8 in), load 24,000 kg (52,910 lb). X travel 5,100 mm (200.8 in); Y travel 4,000/ 4,700 mm (157.5/ 185.0 in).

03 Does the MHN-5040 have linear scales?

XYZ-axis linear scale feedback is on the optional accessory list. It is not part of the standard machine, so order it if positioning over the full travel matters.

04 What are the rapids of the MHN-5040 / MHN-5047?

X/Y rapid is 10 m/min. Z rapid is 15 m/min with the box way or linear way head and 12 m/min with the enclosed box ram. Cutting feed is 1-7,000 mm/min.
