Overview

Take the travels of Vision Wide's largest high speed vertical and fit a #50 gear driven spindle: that is the Vision Wide DV-1680. It moves 1,600 mm (63.0 in) in X, 800 mm (31.5 in) in Y and 700 mm (27.6 in) in Z, and the 1,600×750 mm (63.0×29.5 in) table is fully covered in X.

Against the DV-1475 the difference is modest. The DV-1475 has 1,400 mm (55.1 in) of X and 750 mm (29.5 in) of Y; the table, the 1,500 kg (3,307 lb) load rating, the 15 / 18 kW (20.1 / 24.1 hp) motor and the 15 / 15 / 12 m/min rapids are the same on both. Because the table is identical, the DV-1680 is the one to buy when parts run the whole length of it.

The standard spindle is listed as 6,000 rpm #50 gear driven. A gear driven spindle at that speed is meant for large cutters at low rpm, and the cutting feed range of 1-10 m/min fits that kind of work. Shops that also finish on the same machine can order the 8,000rpm #50 belt driven spindle or one of the ♯40 direct driven spindles listed up to 15,000rpm.

Roller type linear guideways carry all three axes, and Vision Wide puts their loading and rigidity 30% above ball bearing guideways on C-type machines. The magazine holds 24 tools as standard with a 32 tools option.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 1,600 mm (63.0 in) of X travel matches the 1,600 mm (63.0 in) table length
  • 15 / 18 kW (20.1 / 24.1 hp) motor with a 6,000 rpm #50 gear driven spindle as standard
  • 800 mm (31.5 in) of Y travel, more than the 750 mm (29.5 in) of the DV-1475
  • Roller type linear guideways on X, Y and Z
  • Coolant through spindle system 20/50bar is available

Limitations

  • Rapids are 15 / 15 / 12 m/min
  • Table load of 1,500 kg (3,307 lb) is no higher than on the DV-1475
  • Only 24 / 32 pcs of tool capacity are listed, where the SV-1680 shows 24 / 32 / 40 pcs
  • The bracketed 11 / 15 kW (14.8 / 20.1 hp) power figure is not explained

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the difference between the DV-1680 and the DV-1475?

Travel in X and Y. The DV-1680 has 1,600 mm (63.0 in) and 800 mm (31.5 in); the DV-1475 has 1,400 mm (55.1 in) and 750 mm (29.5 in). Z travel, the 1,600×750 mm (63.0×29.5 in) table, table load, spindle power, rapids and tool capacity are listed the same.

02 How fast are the DV-1680's axes?

Rapid traverse is 15 / 15 / 12 m/min on X, Y and Z, with a cutting feed range of 1-10 m/min. The SV-1680, with the same travels, lists 30 / 30 / 24 m/min, so the DV is the slower and heavier-cutting machine of the two.

03 Can the DV-1680 be ordered with a faster spindle?

Yes. Besides the standard 6,000 rpm #50 gear driven spindle, the optional list names an 8,000rpm #50 belt driven spindle and 10,000/12,000/15,000rpm ♯40 direct driven spindles.

04 How many tools does the DV-1680 carry?

The table lists 24 / 32 pcs. In the accessory lists a 24 tools magazine with arm type ATC is standard and a 32 tools magazine with arm type ATC is optional.
