Overview
The Victor Taichung Vcenter-H500 is a 50-taper horizontal machining center on 500 x 500 mm (19.68 x 19.68 in) pallets. Its BT-50 spindle is limited to 6,000 rpm with 11 / 15 kW (15 / 20 HP), and the travels are 720 mm (28.34 in) in X, 650 mm (25.59 in) in Y and 720 mm (28.34 in) in Z.
It is the cutting-torque half of a pair. The Vcenter-H500HS shares the frame, the travels, the 800 kg (1,763.69 lb) pallet load and even the 12,500 kg (27,557.74 lb) weight, but carries a fast 40-taper spindle. This model takes the bigger tool: a 50-taper shank and tools of up to 20 kg (44.09 lb), where the Vcenter-H500HS stops at 7 kg.
That makes the choice a matter of material and cutter size. Cast-iron housings, steel blocks and anything that wants a large face mill, a long boring bar or a big tap belong on the BT-50 spindle at low speed. The motor is not large, so the advantage is in tool stiffness and reach more than in metal removal by sheer power.
Forty tools are standard and 60, 90 or 120 are options. An automatic pallet changer, a 1° indexing table, scroll-type chip removers and a chip conveyor with cart are on the standard list. Victor Taichung says the design emphasis was on continuous cutting with minimal downtime.
