How much does the Takisawa TS-2000 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Takisawa TS-2000 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Takisawa TS-2000 is a 6 in (152 mm) chuck turning centre with live tools and a Y axis, sold as the TS-2000YS with a right spindle or the TS-2000Y with an NC servo tailstock. Its left spindle runs to 6,000 rpm on an 11 kW (14.8 hp) motor, and the standard 12-station turret turns up to 370 mm (14.6 in) in diameter and 565 mm (22.2 in) in length.
On the TS-2000YS the two spindles are a matched pair. The right spindle is also listed at 6,000 rpm and 11 / 7.5 kW (14.8 / 10.1 hp), and it carries the same 6 in chuck. Front and back operations can therefore be split evenly, or the heavier cut can go on whichever side suits the part. On the TS-3000 and TS-4000 the left chuck grows while the right one stays at 6 in, so the TS-2000 is the balanced member of the family.
Live tools turn at 6,000 rpm with 7.5 kW (10.1 hp) at S3 25% and 3.7 kW (5.0 hp) continuous. The rapid-traverse row lists the Y axis at 10 m/min (394 in/min), a third of the 30 m/min (1,181 in/min) on X, Z and A, and the table gives no Y travel, so ask for the stroke before planning off-centre features. On the TS-2000Y the A axis is listed at 13 m/min.
Bar capacity is 51 mm (2.0 in), depending on chuck and cylinder, which with the 6,000 rpm spindle makes this a natural bar machine for small parts. The turret is an all-holder type. Besides the standard 12 stations, 10, 15 or 20 stations are optional, and the larger turrets cost diameter: 315 mm (12.4 in) with 15 stations and 292 mm (11.5 in) with 20. For bar work under 51 mm that loss is irrelevant, so the 20-station turret is the logical choice when tool count matters.
The TS-2000YS occupies 2,800 × 2,140 mm (110.2 × 84.3 in) and weighs 6,200 kg (13,668 lb); the TS-2000Y occupies 2,800 × 2,070 mm (110.2 × 81.5 in) and weighs 6,000 kg (13,228 lb). Both footprints exclude the oil pan and chip conveyor, and height is 2,300 mm (90.6 in).

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Matched spindles on the TS-2000YS: both 6,000 rpm and 11 / 7.5 kW (14.8 / 10.1 hp) with 6 in (152 mm) chucks
- 6,000 rpm live tools with 7.5 / 3.7 kW (10.1 / 5.0 hp)
- All-holder turret with 12 stations as standard and up to 20 stations as an option
- 370 mm (14.6 in) maximum turning diameter and 565 mm (22.2 in) turning length with the standard turret
- 30 m/min (1,181 in/min) rapids on X, Z and A on the TS-2000YS
Limitations
- Bar capacity is 51 mm (2.0 in); the TS-3000 passes 67 mm (2.6 in) and the TS-4000 82 mm (3.2 in)
- Left spindle power is 11 / 7.5 kW (14.8 / 10.1 hp), lower than the 15 / 11 kW (20.1 / 14.8 hp) of the TS-3000
- Y rapid is 10 m/min (394 in/min), and the table gives no Y travel
- The 15- and 20-station turrets reduce turning diameter to 315 mm (12.4 in) and 292 mm (11.5 in)

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The TS-2000YS has a right spindle with a second 6 in (152 mm) chuck, rated 6,000 rpm and 11 / 7.5 kW (14.8 / 10.1 hp). The TS-2000Y has an NC servo tailstock instead. The YS weighs 6,200 kg (13,668 lb) and takes 2,800 × 2,140 mm (110.2 × 84.3 in); the Y weighs 6,000 kg (13,228 lb) and takes 2,800 × 2,070 mm (110.2 × 81.5 in). The A axis rapids at 30 m/min on the YS and 13 m/min on the Y.
02
12 stations are standard, and 10, 15 or 20 stations are optional, all on an all-holder turret. Maximum turning diameter is 370 mm (14.6 in) with 12 or 10 stations, 315 mm (12.4 in) with the 15-station turret and 292 mm (11.5 in) with the 20-station turret. Turning length is 565 mm (22.2 in) in every case except the 15-station turret, which is listed at 550 mm (21.7 in).
03
Live tools run to 6,000 rpm on a motor rated 7.5 kW (10.1 hp) at S3 25% and 3.7 kW (5.0 hp) continuous. The TS-3000 and TS-4000 list the same 6,000 rpm live-tool speed, so tool speed does not change with the larger models.
04
The rapid-traverse row lists a Y axis at 10 m/min (394 in/min), alongside X, Z and A at 30 m/min (1,181 in/min) on the TS-2000YS. The table does not give the Y travel, so the stroke available for off-centre milling and drilling has to be confirmed with Takisawa before a part is planned around it.
05
The TS-3000 has a larger left spindle: an 8 in (203 mm) chuck, 67 mm (2.6 in) of bar capacity and 15 / 11 kW (20.1 / 14.8 hp), with top speed reduced to 5,000 rpm. The TS-2000 has a 6 in (152 mm) chuck, 51 mm (2.0 in) of bar capacity, 11 / 7.5 kW (14.8 / 10.1 hp) and 6,000 rpm. Turning diameter, turret options, rapids and listed weights are the same on both.
