Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Takisawa TEX-2500S that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Takisawa TEX-2500S is a twin-spindle multi-tasking machine with a B-axis tool spindle: two 10 in (254 mm) chucks, a maximum turning diameter of 400 mm (15.7 in) and a maximum turning length of 1,100 mm (43.3 in). The milling side is a 12,000 rpm tool spindle that swings through 240° (±120°) and works from a 30-tool capacity.
What stands out in the table is symmetry. The left and right spindles are both listed at 4,000 rpm and 22 / 15 kW (29.5 / 20.1 hp), and the tool spindle carries the same 22 / 15 kW rating. A part can therefore be roughed as hard on the second spindle as on the first, and the tool spindle puts turning-spindle power behind a milling cutter. Takisawa's own TMX-2000, by contrast, lists 15 / 11 kW (20.1 / 14.8 hp) on the left spindle and 11 / 7.5 kW (14.8 / 10.1 hp) on the right.
All four listed axes, X, Y, Z and A, rapid at 40 m/min (1,575 in/min). The table gives rapid rates but no X, Y or Z travels, so the reach of the tool spindle across the 400 mm turning diameter is something to confirm from a layout drawing. Bar capacity through the left spindle is 80 mm (3.1 in), depending on the chuck and cylinder, and the turning length of 1,100 mm varies with the chuck type.
Tool capacity is 30 as standard and 60 as an option. The table lists a tool spindle and no turret, so every turning tool, drill and mill comes out of that count, and 30 pockets fill quickly on a part with two operations. Where two tools need to cut at once, this is not the layout to choose.
The operator works from a 15 in touch-panel monitor with the iHMI interface. The machine occupies 5,505 × 3,220 mm (216.7 × 126.8 in), is 2,552 mm (100.5 in) high and weighs 12,000 kg (26,455 lb).

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Left spindle, right spindle and tool spindle all rated 22 / 15 kW (29.5 / 20.1 hp)
- 12,000 rpm tool spindle on a B axis with a 240° (±120°) range
- 1,100 mm (43.3 in) maximum turning length with 400 mm (15.7 in) of turning diameter
- 40 m/min (1,575 in/min) rapids on X, Y, Z and A
- 80 mm (3.1 in) bar capacity through the left spindle
- 15 in touch-panel monitor with the iHMI interface
Limitations
- Standard tool capacity is 30, and the 60-tool capacity is an option
- Turning diameter is 400 mm (15.7 in), less than the 500 mm (19.7 in) of the TMX-2000 and TMX-4000
- No lower turret is listed, so all cutting is done by the single tool spindle
- Needs 5,505 × 3,220 mm (216.7 × 126.8 in) of floor and carries 12,000 kg (26,455 lb)

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Both turning spindles are listed at 4,000 rpm and 22 / 15 kW (29.5 / 20.1 hp). The tool spindle runs to 12,000 rpm and is also rated 22 / 15 kW (29.5 / 20.1 hp). The table does not state the duty ratings behind the two power figures or any torque values, so request the power and torque curves if the work involves heavy roughing at low speed.
02
30 tools as standard, with a 60-tool option. Because the table lists a tool spindle and no turret, turning tools as well as rotating tools come from that count. A two-spindle part that needs separate roughing and finishing tools for each side can use most of 30 positions, so the 60-tool option is worth sizing against the actual tool list.
03
240°, listed as ±120°. That is enough for the tool spindle to face either chuck and to reach angled features in between. The tool spindle itself runs to 12,000 rpm with 22 / 15 kW (29.5 / 20.1 hp).
04
Both have 10 in (254 mm) chucks, 4,000 rpm turning spindles and 80 mm (3.1 in) of bar capacity through the left spindle. The TMX-4000 is the larger machine, with 500 mm (19.7 in) of turning diameter, 1,500 mm (59.1 in) of turning length, a 26 / 22 kW (34.9 / 29.5 hp) left spindle and 40 tools as standard, at 17,000 kg (37,478 lb). The TEX-2500S turns 400 mm (15.7 in) by 1,100 mm (43.3 in), carries 30 tools and weighs 12,000 kg (26,455 lb).
05
The listed floor space is 5,505 × 3,220 mm (216.7 × 126.8 in) and the height is 2,552 mm (100.5 in). Machine weight is 12,000 kg (26,455 lb). The table does not say whether the floor figure includes a chip conveyor or bar feeder, so add those from the installation drawing.
